2 Towns Ciderhouse Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy Cider
Here’s a summer cider concept for you: lemonade. After drinking through a couple of bottles of the latest limited-release cider from 2 Towns Ciderhouse, Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy, that’s my impression.
2 Towns had sent me these to sample, and overall it’s an interesting concept:
Citrusy and refreshing, Easy Peasy will have you leisurely drifting your way through summer. Crafted with fresh-pressed Northwest apples, Meyer lemon, raspberries and soured with lactobacillus, it’s summertime and the livin’s squeezy!
I hadn’t been aware that the cider had soured it further with lacto, but that makes sense as this was quite tart.
Appearance: Looks like pink grapefruit juice, a yellowish-pink color (hard to tell in the photo). Hazy. Head is minimal-to-none.
Smell: Raspberries are prominent, with a squeeze of lemon. Tart, fresh, juicy, bright — summery.
Taste: Tart, lactic, with note of slightly underripe raspberries. Lemonade! A bit of sweetness in the Meyer lemons and there’s a bit of lemon zest too, completing that impression of lemonade. Refreshing, though the initial sour punch might be hard to get through at first.
Mouthfeel: Tart, crisp, fresh. Finishes with an additional touch of (lactic) acid at the back.
Overall: Seems quite tart at first, but a few sips in and yes, lemonade. I suspect this would be a good mixer for other summery cocktails as well. It’s not going to be for everybody but definitely worth checking out.
