Oregon Beer News, 07/09/2018

Oregon Beer, McMenaminsHappy Monday! I hope you had a great holiday weekend (if you were able to take a long weekend, at least) and are refreshed and ready for the beer news! I’ve got the news for you for this Monday, July 9, and as usual I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day—soc check back from time to time for the latest.

McMenamins continues to celebrate Oregon Craft Beer Month at all Oregon locations with weekly beer specials. For this week of July 8 through 14, Fruit Beer is the featured style of beers on special, offering “$4.75 pints all day (excluding brewmasters reserve & high-gravity beers).” Of course this covers Ruby Ale, Purple Haze, and any other fruit beers throughout this week.

This Saturday, July 14, Portland’s Saraveza hosts the very first Summer Strawberry Beer Fest: “Featuring fifteen + beers made with Strawberries and the first single fruit beer fest featuring in-season fruit with fresh eye popping and mouth watering strawberries. The lineup includes some of the west coast’s finest and most talked about breweries and will include strawberry food specials like a beer float and much, much more. Tickets are only $10 and include a custom Perfection 9oz glass with 4 drink tickets if purchased in advance (3 tickets at the door). Additional drink tickets are $1.50 or four for just $5.” One to check out if you’re around.

Among numerous locals nights and Monday specials, the Lucky Lab in Portland has Miser Monday today: “Stop by our SE Hawthorne or N Killingsworth locations ALL DAY LONG for $1 off our pints and specials on our pitchers and half pints! (915 SE Hawthorne or 1700 N Killingsworth). Hope to see you soon.”

The U.S. Open Beer Championship just posted results, and there are Oregon winners! Bend’s GoodLife Brewing and Deschutes Brewery, Portland’s Alameda Brewing, Ecliptic Brewing and StormBreaker Brewing, and Full Sail Brewing in Hood River all won medals, with Alameda Brewing being the big winner, bringing home four! Alameda posted: “We won FOUR medals at this years US Open! Dire Wolf Triple IPA defended it’s GOLD making it the winning Triple IPA 2 years in a row! Melisseus Barleywine and Quid Pro Quad won SILVER and our classic Black Bear XX Stout took a BRONZE! Stop by the Brewhouse to try Dire Wolf, Quid Pro Quad, and Black Bear today!” Congrats to all the winners!

Kobold Brewing (Bend) has a new, long-awaited beer on tap at its Vault Taphouse in Redmond: “The wait is OVER!! This year’s Gold Medal Winner from @mcmenamins Smash Fest, ZOMBIE SMASH just tapped at The Vault.”
