McMenamins Fulton Pub & Brewery (Portland) has a limited-edition beer tasting today starting at 5pm, featuring 90 Shilling Scottish Ale: “This strong Scottish style ale is dominated by a smooth, sweet maltiness balanced with low, but perceptible hop bitterness. A rich caramel chewy sweetness carries to a nice clean finish. For a twist on tradition, Honey Malt is included in the recipe to lend a pleasant nectar like quality.”
Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays at their Pubs in both Bend and Portland is Deschutes’ Community Pint Night, wherein they donate $1 for every pint purchased the entire day to the charity of the month. This month it is Meals on Wheels. “If you’d rather drink your beer at home, get your growler filled in the Tasting Room and they’ll donate $2 to Meals on Wheels People.” It’s a great cause, so if you get a chance go enjoy a pint (bonus for National Beer Day!).
Worthy Brewing (Bend): They’ve released a new beer in cans: “Happy National Beer Day from the newest member of the Worthy family: Prefunk Pale! Brewed with the juiciest Citra hops, it’s an easy drinking, refreshing beer. Coming in late April to a tap or beer cooler near you.”
Breakside Brewery (Portland): Their five-year anniversary is coming up, and as part of that celebration they are going to be holding a Homebrew Challenge, the winner of which will brew with Breakside for the GABF ProAm competition. “The winning beer will be scaled up and brewed on our Dekum Pub system and released this summer. Additionally, the winning beer will be Breakside’s Pro-Am entry for the 2015 Great American Beer Festival! Please note all the rules for the competition below before purchasing your tickets/entries. Entry spaces should be purchased while available, but competition samples will be accepted at the locations listed below between May 1 and May 5, 2015.” Prepare your brews if you want a shot at this, you have almost a month!
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Their bottled Blackberry Ale set for release: “Releasing bottles of Blackberry 2014 tomorrow at both the Barrel House and Raccoon Lodge – blend of Wheat ales aged in oak wine barrels with blackberries for up to 12 months. We’re pretty excited, as this is the first time we’ve released this beer since the 2010 project. $20 bottle”
PFriem Family Brewers (Hood River) looks to have a new beer on tap (or at least, I don’t remember it previously): “You guys really should try our pFriem Little Saison with our Bahn Mi Sandwich! This earthly beer filled with tangy aromas of lemon and dill is just the right beverage to wash down this spunky sandwich made up of duck confit, daikon pickle, cilantro and jalapeño aioli.”
