At the end of last week (just in time for the holidays!) the latest seasonals from Deschutes Brewery arrived at the door: Hop Henge and Red Chair NWPA, both tasty beers that I’ll have some notes about soon.
I first heard about this a few weeks ago, but did not know when the official news was coming out: Cam O’Connor, formerly brewmaster at Deschutes Brewery, joins Bend’s Crux Fermentation Project. Pretty interesting news for Bend! Here’s the official press release from Crux: Crux Fermentation Project announced this week … Continue reading
Happy Thanksgiving to you! This week I received not one but three different beer packages just in time for the holiday! I’ll be drinking one or more of them today and this weekend. Here’s what arrived: The 2014 edition of The Abyss, from Deschutes Brewery. This year’s batch of Kris … Continue reading
This past week I received the latest collaboration brew from Deschutes Brewery: Zarabanda! (Technically there is no exclamation point in the name but it feels like there should be.) It is styled as a uniquely-spiced saison, is 6.7% abv, and is apparently available year-round. Here’s the Brewery’s description: We looked … Continue reading
Even though we’re at the tail end of fresh hop season, the bottles are flowing, and this week I received these from Deschutes Brewery: I’ve had both already this season (of course!) but it’s always nice to see them arrive in bottles. And now that the draft season of the … Continue reading
The first Jubelales of the season from Deschutes Brewery arrived yesterday, heralding the onset of winter seasonal ales: (At least they didn’t arrive in August like they have in years past!) This is a classic and one of my all-time favorite beers from Deschutes. As the accompanying info sheet notes, … Continue reading
I’m a little behind on mentioning these, as I actually received them a week ago (last Thursday the 3rd), hand-delivered in fact (I assume they didn’t want them potentially sitting on hot truck over the long holiday weekend). Three of the latest seasonal/specialty bottle offerings from Deschutes Brewery: In order, … Continue reading
When I had received the three Twilight Summer Ales from Deschutes Brewery, I noted that they all were freshly bottled within days of receiving them (all bottled on the same day, April 25). I thought it might be interesting to drink each of the three Twilights at different times, sort … Continue reading
This weekend is a good one for Bend brewery anniversaries, as three of our locals are celebrating a collective 31 years in business. Deschutes Brewery celebrated their 26th anniversary yesterday, but you can still head down and enjoy their Black Butte XXVI (brewed with chocolate and cranberries this year) on … Continue reading
