How Central Oregon breweries are supporting the community during coronavirus

Cascade Lakes Brewing free meals for employees during COVID-19

I’ve been maintaining a list of what all the Central Oregon breweries are doing to continue selling beer during this COVID-19 pandemic, offering options including purchasing beer to-go, ordering for delivery, and online sales. Many that have kitchens are also preparing food for takeout. These are great options for customers to continue to enjoy great beer options as well as help to support the breweries, which let’s face it, is the only way they can keep their doors open right now.

Even so, many are going above and beyond to support the community and their employees in this time of crisis. Andy Rhine of Cascade Lakes Brewing reached out to me to suggest a round-up of the breweries that are doing this, and helpfully provided a list of what each is doing. It’s a great idea, I wish I’d thought of it sooner. Tip of the hat to Andy and a big “thank you” for doing a bunch of the heavy lifting on this list; I’ll be keeping this list up to date if and when I find out about other breweries, but this first pass is all Andy.

Update: Shortly after posting I got an additional tip about Worthy.

10 Barrel:

Giving back to our local community has always been a priority for 10 Barrel. We started the #DrinkItForward Program as a way for our Brew Pubs to support local charities through proceeds of their draft beer sales. However, since our brewpubs have reduced operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, things have changed and uncertainty is at an all-time high; But that doesn’t mean that we’re giving up. In fact, Our #DrinkItForward initiative is expanding!

First up: Introducing HERO BEER – A light lager inspired by the essential people keeping us safe, happy, and healthy during this scary time. Starting with Bend, then rolling out to all our other pubs as soon as we can ship, we’ll be delivering HERO BEER to as many of you Heroes as we can.

Next: We’ve expanded the #DrinkItForward program beyond our pubs to include our beer sales in many of our retail partners. To make sure we continue to support charities with the money they need to keep supporting their causes, a portion of EVERY 10 Barrel Beer you purchase in retail will now go towards these local charities.
