Weekend in review, beyond the OBF

This past weekend in Portland, aka Beervana, was primarily about the Oregon Brewers Festival but we also used the opportunity (while the kids were with the grandparents) to visit as many breweries and beer spots that we could manage. That turned out to be quite a bit! I’ll have longer individual posts on at least two of the breweries (ones I haven’t visited or reviewed before), but here’s how the weekend went (when we weren’t … Continue reading →

Saraveza’s IIPA Fest

This weekend in Portland—among all the other things also going on—Saraveza is holding their 3rd annual Imperial IPA Fest—featuring an incredible rotating list of super-hoppy high-alcohol DIPAs and IIPAs, live music, a commemorative glass, free jars for to-go IIPAs, food specials, gifts, prizes, and more. It’s all taking place from 1 to 10pm today, and from 1 to 9pm tomorrow (Sunday). Cost is $20 for a glass and 8 tickets, or $35 for 2 glasses … Continue reading →

After an hour or so of hearty laughter and … Continue reading →

Weekend in review: Portland at the end of June

This past final weekend of June we headed up to Portland for a family trip, and while it wasn’t ostensibly about beer, there were still a few beery opportunities to be found (it is Portland, after all!). We had lunch with a friend at Hopworks Urban Brewery (just as good as before—see my review here from a couple years ago) and in addition to getting to try the “Fight for your Rye’t” (brewed for Portland … Continue reading →

North American Organic Brewers Festival

June is pretty much the start of beer festival season here in Oregon, with multiple fests and events going on throughout the summer. And next week, the final weekend of June, the 8th annual North American Organic Brewers Festival is taking place in Portland. Two of Portland’s beloved industries – organic beer and sustainability – come together in an annual celebration designed to raise awareness about organic beer and sustainable living. We serve up organic … Continue reading →
