The “IPL” stands for “India Pale Lager” and this is the newest beer in Widmer‘s Rotator Series of IPAs—and they sent me two at the end of last week:
The idea behind Hopside Down is, of course, taking the Rotator Series which is normally an IPA (“ale”) and turning that “upside down” and brewing it as a lager instead. Plus of course lagers are bottom-fermenting so there’s that play as well.
Widmer makes good beer (which I’ve extolled the virtues of before) so I’m definitely interested in trying these out. Stay tuned.
