Received: Two Rogue Ales canned IPAs

Received: Rogue Ales canned IPAs

Arrived this week, cans of Rogue Ales Outta Line West Coast IPA and Batsquatch Hazy IPA. The Outta Line is one I coincidentally just sampled earlier this week, and it’s pretty good; I haven’t tried Batsquatch yet.

And the other day I dinged Deschutes Brewery for its new can design for Da Shootz! lager, so fair’s fair: I really have to wonder at the Batsquatch design. Apparently, a “batsquatch” is an actual alleged cryptid sighted near Mt. St. Helens in Washington, but even so, that font and the cartoony creature artwork just doesn’t scream “hazy IPA” nor does it really appeal to me on a branding level.

But then again, some of Rogue’s packaging of late has been… interesting. (Combat Wombat, anyone?) So I’m not entirely sure what to make of this.
