Press Release: Redhook Ale Brewery Releases Big Ballard Imperial IPA

Pacific Northwest Brewer Celebrates Roots with Tribute to Founding Neighborhood

In a tribute to the first Redhook Ales poured in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood in 1982, Redhook Ale Brewery (NASDAQ: HOOK) will release its Big Ballard Imperial IPA this month. The imperial IPA features an assertive hop flavor and aroma with high hop bitterness as well as a rich, deep golden color. Redhook’s Big Ballard Imperial IPA will be available in 22 ounce bottles and on draught in the Western U.S.

“Consumers have been asking us for a big, bold IPA and Big Ballard Imperial IPA is exactly that,” said Greg Deuhs, Redhook brewmaster. “When we were developing the beer, it was important to us that it has a big, full-bodied flavor, yet be well-balanced. The final Big Ballard Imperial IPA is a drinkable beer with strong hop and malt flavors.”

Big Ballard’s hop flavor and aroma are balanced by complex, malty undertones. The imperial IPA is brewed using five malts and three distinct hop varietals. Redhook’s Big Ballard Imperial IPA was crafted for the diehard IPA drinker and pairs well with sausage, cured meats with ground mustard, spicy Mexican or Asian dishes and barbecue.

Big Ballard has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 8.6 percent and 73 international bittering units (IBUs). The imperial IPA will retail for approximately $3.99 – $4.99 per 22 ounce bottle.
