Oregon Beer News, 12/27/2016

Oregon BeerHere is the post-Christmas holiday edition of the Oregon beer news, for this Tuesday, December 27. Not necessarily a lot going on this week, but as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Crux Fermentation Project (Bend): Today’s latest Beer’ducation series tasting is featuring IPA versus Imperial IPA. “Our BEER’DUCATION SERIES of beer menu specials are designed to stimulate greater appreciation and understanding of craft beer through the self-guided experience of comparing and contrasting variations in styles and brewing processes. Each Tuesday evening, a different Crux beer will be highlighted via a special beer menu offering that includes a tasting guide to help you make the most of your experience.” This one takes place from 11:30am to 2:30pm, perfect for the lunch hour; and Crux has plenty of IPA options on tap to learn from.

Fort George Brewery (Astoria): They are hosting a benefit night tonight, Wild Night for Wildlife, from 4:30 to 9pm: “Join us for a fun night to kick back and relax – great food, tasty drinks, and good times with friends and family! 100% of the profits from all food and drink sales upstairs at the Fort will support our wildlife patients and this work we love – amazingly generous from the folks at Fort George! Plus, we’ll have a raffle and our brand new tees + hoodies available for sale. So come on down – eat, drink and be merry – all for an awesome cause! Your support helps to provide critical care, medicines, and nutritious food for injured, sick or orphaned birds and other wildlife needing our help! We want to get them healed and back home where they belong as soon as we can, and need your help to do it.” Be sure to head over there tonight and help out!

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints days at the Pubs, where $1 of every pint sold benefits a selected non-profit for the month. In Bend, they are benefiting Deschutes County Search and Rescue which is a hugely important organization for the Central Oregon region with its outdoor recreation focus. In Portland, the beneficiary is The Pongo Fund, an emergency pet food bank, which is just as important for pets especially going into winter. Make sure to swing by and drink a pint or three to do your part.

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring Plumcot: “a single barrel sour blond ale aged 23 months in a wine barrel with dried pluots – a hybrid between a plum and an apricot. This seasonal blend offers flavors of tropical fruit, undertones of spice, and a dry finish highlighting the soft acidity of the pluot, ideal for brightening up the short, cold days of winter.”

Rogue Ales (Newport): Their company-wide End of the Year Holiday Garage Sale continues today, running from 11am to 7pm at all locations. “This weekend, get your Rogue lagers, stouts and ales in kegs, bottles and growlers as well as t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, glassware and other Rogue goods while saving some money.” Great opportunity to score some cheap(er) gear and beer!

Bend’s Worthy Brewing has a benefit fundraiser night tonight from 4 to 6pm: “Join us for Have a Heart Night supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Oregon! Help provide the care and compassion that families need while staying at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Oregon.” $1 of every pint sold will be donated to the Bend Ronald McDonald House. You know what to do.
