Oregon BeerHere’s the news in beer from around Oregon for Tuesday, the eighth of December. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Falling Sky Brewing (Eugene) is planning to nearly double their capacity with new tanks, according to the Eugene Register-Guard: “Eugene brewer Falling Sky plans to add 10 new brewing and fermenting tanks to its Oak Alley brewing house next week, nearly doubling its brewing capacity. The expansion comes as Falling Sky rushes to open its planned pub and pizzeria this spring in the University of Oregon’s Erb Memorial Union. Falling Sky last month moved its fermentation supply shop from the retail space at 30 E. 13th Ave. around the corner to 1331 Willamette St. The new tanks will go in the 13th Avenue space, Falling Sky co-owner Rob Cohen said. When the installation is complete, Falling Sky’s brewing capacity will rise from 16,000 liters to 30,000 liters.”

McMenamins on Monroe (Corvallis) has a special beer release today from 5 to 9pm featuring an appropriately holiday-themed Imperial Stout dubbed Yule Log: “Imperial stouts are big and bold flavorful brews, our Ballena Russian Imperial Stout serves as the foundation of this beer with a slight twist, it was aged for over 1 month with a gin infused oak spiral. The gin provides an interesting botanical aroma while the oak provide vanilla notes and enhanced body all of which increase the bounty of flavors during the maturation process. I hope you enjoy this English version of December’s beer release. Cheers.”

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring Happy Holidates: “a blend of Imperial Reds and Spiced Quads aged in Bourbon barrels with rum-soaked dates and mulling spices. Warm flavors of rum, dried dates, cinnamon, nutmeg and caramel malts makes this limited offering a perfect pour for the cold holiday season (10.2% ABV).”

Beergarden (Eugene): Their Winter Brew Festival event continues today featuring Ninkasi Brewing in the house from 5 to 7pm: “Critical Hit 2013 & Sour of Love (cranberry). The Cranberry sour will be paired with a special nibble from our friends at Davey’s Chocolate.”
