Oregon Beer News, 12/02/2015

Oregon BeerHere is the Oregon beer news for Wednesday, December 2—Hump Day and HAF Day (if you’re in Portland). As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

The Holiday Ale Festival kicks off today in Portland! It runs every day through Sunday the 6th starting at 11am at Pioneer Courthouse Square downtown, and offers up a killer list of winter and holiday specialty beers, for the (one-time) admission fee of $35 (which nets you the commemorative glass and 12 tickets). It will be busy too! When you’re down there be sure to seek out the beer author table and pick up some books!

Eugene’s Oakshire Brewing will be at Les Caves in Corvallis tonight to talk and pour beer: “From 4:30-6:30 Oakshire will be here to talk all things beer, and we will have some fantastic small plates paired with their featured beers!
*Frederic C. Noir* Saison made with Iron Goddess Green Oolong Tea, aged in Pinot Noir Barrels
*Very Ill-Tempered Gnome* Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Winter Ale
* Oakshire Brewing’s 9th Anniversary Ale* Oak aged Wild Farmhouse Ale with Peach”

The Green Dragon (Portland): Tonight’s Green Dragon Brew Crew release at 5pm is featuring Really Robust Porter: “The differences between porters and stouts have always been – shall we say – hazy. How hazy probably depends on how many porters or stouts you drank. This week, the Green Dragon Brew Crew blurs these differences even further to release Really Robust Porter. With an ABV of 7.3%, this is a strong porter, which kinda, sorta pushes it into stout territory. As for the flavor? The Brew Crew describes Really Robust Porter as, ‘smooth and full-bodied with chocolate malt at the first sip, hop-bitter through the mouth and the flavor of dark roast in the finish.'”

Santiam Brewing (Salem) will be at Eugene’s 16 Tons this evening for a bottle release: “Wednesday, December 2nd from 5-7pm – Santiam bottle release at 16 Tons Taphouse!! Santiam Brewing 2015 Vintage Bourbon Barrel-aged Abbey Porter bottles will be for sale! A couple of options on draft as well!”
