Oregon Beer News, 12/01/2015

Oregon BeerHappy December 1st—were into the Christmas season! Here’s the news for this fine (though chilly) Tuesday. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

McMenamins Fulton Pub (Portland) has a limited-edition beer tasting today starting at 5pm, featuring Holiday Spiced Brown Ale: “As another winter season asserts itself and the weather turns cold, holiday spices are in the air. Here we have introduced a combination of these spices to a nicely balanced brown ale. The familiar flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice mingle with the mild toasty flavors of this American style brown ale to deliver a rich complex winter seasonal alternative.”

Belmont Station (Portland): Today from 5 to 7pm they have a very special release, of friend and homebrewer Rodney Kibzey’s Sierra Nevada Beer Camp beer: “Homebrewer Extraordinaire Rodney Kibzey has a souvenir from camp he wants to share with us! Camp, of course, being Sierra Nevada’s Beer Camp, where Rodney and his merry band of campers created Oats Face, a beer in the Extra Special Bitter (ESB) style. This lovely ESB has a grapefruit aroma, a toasty and spicy flavor, and a creaminess from using oats during brewing. We are honored that Rodney wanted to have his own Oats Face release party here at Belmont Station, so come by and say hi to Rodney and help him enjoy this wonderful treat!”

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring Blueberriation: “a variation of our upcoming 2015 Blueberry project. Blueberriation is a blend of sour Wheat ales aged in oak wine barrels for up to 12 months with fresh blueberries, vanilla beans and lemon peel. This limited release features flavors of blueberry cobbler with a touch of lemon and a rounding vanilla presence. 8.2 % ABV”

Old Town Brewing (Portland) has a new barleywine on now you’re going to want to check out: “Meet “Homewrecker” our BADASS beast of a beer. It’s strong, robust, and a bruiser of complexity and aroma. This ale is brimming with bold flavors of sweet malt and a bitter hop variety, while refined notes of mixed berries and lemon blend effortlessly with the high-present alcohol character. Perfect as a fireside companion keeping you warm into the winter months ahead. Brewed in a limited batch so get it while it’s on! ABV: 9.0% IBU: 45. OG: 20.4″

Prodigal Son Brewing (Pendleton) has their holiday beer out: “Christmas Carole 2015 is now on tap. Come on down and get a taste!” Last year’s version was a whopping 9% abv and brewed with a chai spice blend.
