Oregon Beer, Claim 52 BrewingHappy Hump Day! We’re now five days until Christmas, so I hope you’re getting your shopping and your beer sorted! Here’s the Oregon beer news for this Wednesday, December 20; as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated too.

Claim 52 Brewing (Eugene) has a new can release dropping today just in time for the holidays: Jolly AF. “Forget the Jelly of the Month Club or donations to the Human Fund, give the gift of dank IPA’s this Christmas. For this iteration of our Milkshake IPA’s, we decided to lovingly dip sugar cookies into the mash in hopes of creating a beer Santa himself would want to find near the tree. Blow ’em away at your white elephant gathering or local cookie swap with a 4-pack of this bad boy. $18/4-pack. No limit.” I have to admit, I laughed at the name.

McMenamins Murry & Allen (Beaverton) has their Sippin’ in the Suburbs beer tasting today, featuring Lace Mountain Coffee Nut Brown brewed over at the Oak Hills brewery: “As the short days get shorter and the long nights get longer, take a break and recharge with our Coffee Infused Nut Brown Ale. We added McMenamins Iced Coffee to our original Lace Mountain Nut Brown for a bit of a pick-me-up, and it complements the complex flavors well.” It runs from 5 to 8pm.

The Bier Stein (Eugene) is Tapping Into Community tonight to raise funds for Ballet Fantastique: “Visit the Bier Stein and support Ballet Fantastique! Enjoy a drink from a keg of Viking Braggot Co. Beowulf Brown, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to BFan! We love our supportive BFans!”

According to Jay Brooks, today is the anniversary of McMinville’s Golden Valley Brewery, which opened in 1993—making this their 24th birthday! I haven’t seen any notice of the day from Golden Valley but swing by one of their two locations and enjoy a Tannen Bomb to celebrate!

Beer—the Portland beer bar—is welcoming Modern Times Beer to the ‘hood today starting at 6pm: “As part of our 5 events for 5 years of Beer series, we are happy to welcome the new kids on the block, Modern Times! We’ll have some very special beers on draft and be doing a fun little comparison of their saison with their new landlord’s saison. Come out and have some fun with us and the Modern Times crew!”

The Growler Guys Portland South Waterfront location is hosting a beer tasting with Ex Novo Brewing today from 5 to 7pm: “Come taste some great local beer from Ex Novo Brewing Co. Not only do they make great beer…they donate 100% of all profits to those building a better world and bringing hope to those places that it is scarce. Making our city and a world a greater place is their goal! You can meet the rep, drink great beer and maybe even win some cool swag! Join us on 12/20 at 5pm for a fun evening…Cheers!”

Wild Ride Brewing (Redmond): Their 12 Days of Christmas deal of the day features all beers on tap: “This Wednesday is purely about enjoying your favorite craft beers. And we have 16 of them on tap in the Tap Room. Today ALL BEERS are on special, with many of your favorites only $3/pint! All day long … come celebrate the holidays with us!”

And Deschutes Brewery‘s own 12 Days of Christmas at the Bend Tasting Room today is featuring The Dissident 2014. “We will be sampling and selling a different barrel-aged beer each day from years past. Visit us during our new hours between 12-7pm, and take home a bottle to celebrate the holidays with friends and family.”

Hopworks Urban Brewery (Portland) has the final holiday releases of their 13 specials today: “Candy Land – A 9.8% Imperial Dessert Stout brewed with peppermint and decadent chocolate for a peppermint patty flavor. BA Cedarcalifragilistic – 2016 Barrel Aged Imperial Winter Ale with foraged Western Redcedar boughs, aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels. BA Tart Quince Tripel – Mixed culture Belgian-Style Tripel that was aged and soured nearly two years in Oregon Pinot Noir barrels with Quince fruit.”
