Oregon Beer, Silver Moon BrewingWe are exactly one week away from Christmas Day! This will also be my final week of daily beer news posts for the year (though I may do a roundup next week), so soak up your Oregon beer news as we count down for Christmas, starting with this Monday, December 18. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. If you have news to share, please let me know and I can get that updated as well.

Silver Moon Brewing (Bend): Today is the official release party for their new dual-barrel project, Boysen the Wood! “Celebrate the official release of Boysen the Wood! ONE BEER, TWO BARRELS! A boysenberry-fermented Baltic Porter: One aged for a year in Crater Lake Spirits Rye Barrels, & the other aged for a year in Oregon Spirit Distillers Bourbon Barrels. This TWO-PACK features one of each so you can taste them side by side & discover the distinctive, delicious differences! We’ll also have the blended version on draft that night! Try all three & choose your favorite! TWO-PACKS: $25, 8oz Draft: $6”

Wild Ride Brewing (Redmond) has their 12 Days of Christmas deals in their taproom continuing today, for day 6, and they are offering up the following deal: “Who wants to take home some Whoopty Whoop Wheat? All day Monday in the Tap Room, 22oz bottles of Whoopty Whoop are only $3/bottle, OR only $30 per case! Gear up for the holidays today!”

Seems like a Central Oregon Christmas news theme today, as Deschutes Brewery has their own 12 Days of Christmas vintage beers taking place at their Bend Tasting Room: “We will be sampling and selling a different barrel-aged beer each day from years past. Visit us during our new hours between 12-7pm, and take home a bottle to celebrate the holidays with friends and family.” Today’s featured beer is Black Butte XXI—an eight year old vintage!

2 Towns Ciderhouse (Corvallis) is releasing three holiday ciders this month: “If there is one thing that 2 Towns loves, it’s a really good party. To help everyone get into the spirit of the season, the Northwest’s favorite cider company is releasing three of its most jubilant ciders! Pommeau, a port-style cider; Riverwood, a prosecco-esque cider; and Serious Scrump, a rich, scrumpy-style cider, provide a wide variety of styles to suit any situation! Cider is the perfect pick for holiday tables, impromptu reunions at your hometown dive bar, as a cocktail ingredient or for sipping straight. Look for the following releases throughout the month of December.” Pommeau ’15 was released on December 9; Serious Scrump released on the 15th; and Riverwood ’18 will be released next week, on the 28th. Good time to stock up on 2 Towns before Christmas!

Vertigo Brewing (Hillsboro) has a big beer being tapped tomorrow: Super Dude Winter Warmer. “Tomorrow we tap the Super Dude. This beer started life as our Mark It Zero stout. Some of the beer became the Dude that we released in the fall. The rest was left to continue to age in Big Bottom Distilling rye barrels. We infused the beer with spices making it the perfect beer for the holidays. Only 2 kegs are going to be tapped, so don’t wait too long.”
