Oregon BeerHere’s the Oregon beer news for Tuesday, November 27. As usual I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Lompoc Brewing‘s big Holiday Release Extravaganza is taking place tonight at the Sidebar in Portland, and is featuring seven(!) seasonal beer releases. On draft will be Blitzen, Bourbon Barrel Aged Wee Heavy, C-Sons Greetings, Franc’ly Brewdolph, Jolly Bock, Old Tavern Rat, and 8 Malty Nights (one of the only Hanukkah beers around). Both 8 Malty Nights and C-Sons Greetings will also be available for sale in 22-ounce bottles. The party runs from 4 to 10pm and there will be free snacks available as well.

Eugene has a new (small) brewery: Claim 52 Brewing, a 3.5-barrel operation that offers ” European influenced styles made in the Northwest tradition with the best Northwest ingredients.” Their listed styles to produce include Kolsch, IPA, “India Session Ale” (obviously a new trend as these keep popping up), wheat, strong ales, Imperial Stout, and of course seasonals. They look to be a production brewery and while I don’t know yet if Claim 52 is fully officially open yet, they should be on tap around Eugene as well as offering up kegs and growlers from the brewery direct.

Double Mountain Brewery (Hood River) is featuring a special beer dinner tonight, a German-style family meal affair, teaming up with Portland’s Podnah’s Pit Barbecue to put it on. “Time for another all-you-can-eat-and-drink extravaganza! The meal is going to feature smoked pork chops, ribs, sausages, bacon, sauerkraut, salads, pickled vegetables, charcuterie, etc., served family-style along with 8 different Double Mountain beers, including some rarities. House-made kolaches for dessert will round out the feast.” It runs from 5:30 to 10pm (with two seatings), and costs $45; call 503-281-3700 to make reservations.

Belmont Station (Portland) is featuring a tasting today from 5 to 7pm with both Pyramid and MacTarnahan’s breweries: “Taste Pyramid Outburst IIPA, Wheaten IPA, Thunderhead & Snowcap Winter Ale plus Mac’s Humbug’r and other seasonals such as Ink Blot Baltic Porter or Goosebump Imperial Stout. the perennial winter classic Snowcap will be on tap.”

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Their Tap It Tuesday tonight at the Barrel House at 6pm features “Live” Vlad the Imp-Aler. “This strong NW style sour ale is a blend of strong blond quads and tripels aged in oak and Bourbon barrels, then further blended with spiced blondes and left to condition for an additional five months. 10.25% ABV, $8 Glass, $3 Taster.”

Silver Moon Brewing (Bend): Their Growler Power Hour special this week is featuring Legacy Lager and Snake Bite Porter, two great beers; the GPH is weekly on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 to 6pm, during which time you can fill a growler of one (or both) of the selected beers for only $6.

Dragon’s Gate Brewery (Milton-Freewater): Tonight they have a “Tuesday Tasting” going on at The Bank & Grill Catering Company restaurant in Milton-Freewater from 5 to 7pm. $5 will include tastings and seasonal tapas; I would expect the line-up of Dragon’s Gate’s Belgian-style ales which is a good deal.

Boneyard Beer (Bend): Their insanely strong Imperial Stout is soon to be back! They posted on Facebook today: “Just in time for the Christmas holidays, Suge Knight West Coast Imperial Stout has been kegged and should be hitting the mean streets of Oregon and Washington sometime early December.” This is a beer that everyone raves about from the already-popular brewery—it’s something like 14% abv!—so if you get a chance to taste some you need to jump on it. I’ll post updates when/if I see it hit the taps.

GoodLife Brewing (Bend) has a special release of their Scottish Heart Scotch Ale hitting Portland’s Horse Brass Thursday the 29th this week: “This caramelized, malt forward Scotch Ale is brewed in honor of St. Andrew and is brewed once a year. Join GoodLife’s Head Brewer Curt Plants and the rest of the team from 6pm till we feel like leaving.” This is the second year Scottish Heart has been released; last year it was started as a collaboration brew between GoodLife’s Curt Plants and (then) Bend Brewing Company’s Tonya Cornett.

PFriem Family Brewers (Hood River) has their Christmas Beer coming out this week and they are celebrating with a couple of release parties; the first is at their place in Hood River tomorrow (Wednesday) starting at 5:30pm: “We’ll be pairing it up with a plate of Tommy’s local winter squash rings, encrusted in ginger & panko bread crumbs for FREE!”  And then on Thursday they’ll be in Portland at Bazi Bierbrasserie for the release starting at 6pm: “Come down and hang out with Josh pFriem and taste his latest concoction just in time for the Holiday Season.”
