Oregon Beer News, 11/25/2013

Oregon BeerHappy Thanksgiving week! We’re working on a shortened holiday week but I’ll have Oregon beer news for these first few days. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Belmont Station (Portland) is hosting Bend’s Worthy Brewing for a release party and tasting of Worthy’s Powder Keg Winter Ale, today from 5 to 8pm: “Belmont Station is very excited to be chosen as the place to help Worthy Brewing release its first-ever winter ale! Several Worthy peeps will be on hand to help us launch this inaugural ale both on draft and in the bottle! We will also be sampling tastes of the Powder Keg in the bottle shop, and we will also pour a very special limited keg of Worthy’s barrel-aged Doppelbock in the bier cafe,  and the Worthy crew promises to have a few fun giveaways, too!”

McMenamins Old St. Francis School (Bend): This Wednesday, just in time for Thanksgiving, they are having their monthly O’Kane’s Cask Series release kicking off at 5pm, and featuring a beer that definitely grabs my attention: Kris Kringle’s Pumpkin Ride. They’ve taken this year’s Kris Kringle, and: “Along with all of these gifts the OSF Brewery has added yet another; fresh roasted pumpkin! Mixed in special for this O’Kanes Cask Series release, Kris Kringle takes an unique ride before he heads out on his special sleigh ride in December! Come join us in the celebration of this one of a kind type of present. Happy Holidays from the OSF Brewery!”

Coalition Brewing (Portland): Looking for deals on beer to drink for Thanksgiving? Coalition posted some today: “[W]e are offering special deals on cases Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving… Cases of 24 Wheat the People cans only $25! Cases of 12 22oz Dunkel Rye bottle only $30! Cases of 12 22oz ISA bottles only $30!” You can get those directly at the pub in the next couple of days.

McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse (Hillsboro): This Wednesday the 27th is the Roadhouse Beer Invitational featuring their Winter Warmer Fest II—a special beer tasting from to 6 to 9pm with four different specialty beers, three of which are from other McMenamins breweries. The four beers pouring will be: The Commodore’s Reserve Barleywine (Lighthouse Brewery), The Black Hole Imperial Stout (Roseburg), Death Star 15m (Cornelius Pass), and Wee Heavy Strong Scotch Ale (Crystal Brewery). Should be a lot of fun and a good Thanksgiving Eve event!
