Oregon Beer News, 11/22/2016

Oregon BeerHere is the Oregon beer news for Tuesday, November 22, two days from Thanksgiving! As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Breakside Brewery (Portland): At N.W.I.P.A. tonight from 6 to 9pm, Breakside will be dropping the third annual Salted Caramel Stout: “Join us at NW IPA on November 22nd for the 3rd Annual Salted Caramel Stout Release party. Made in collaboration with Salt & Straw Ice Cream, this full-bodied stout perfectly blends sea salt and caramel for a rich, smooth and balanced flavor. Come try it! The release party starts at 6pm and also features a full tap takeover.” The rest of the taplist is posted here.

The Green Dragon (Portland) is hosting a Russian River Brewing night, tonight from 5 to 9pm, which I’m sure everyone will want to check out! “Join us for some of Russian River Brewing’s best sours and IPAs on tap. Kegs tapped at 5pm. Limited amount of draft sours and bottles, so get here early to guarantee your fill. Cheers!” They plan to have Supplication, Temptation, Consecration, Pliny the Elder, and Blind Pig IPA on tap.

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Today’s Tap It  Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is Blackberry Dusk: “a blend of wheat and spiced quad ales aged up to 24 months in Pinot Noir and bourbon barrels with blackberries. Created by blender Pieter Bierma, this seasonal blend offers flavors of tart blackberries with hints of holiday spices and bourbon, ideal for the chilly weeks of November.”

And, Cascade also has two very special releases today at the Barrel House you will want to check out: “Upon opening, we’re releasing Fringe, our FIRST Brettanomyces mixed fermentation wild ale! We also have the return of Glueh Kriek, our blend of sour red and blond ales aged in oak wine barrels for 14 months with Bing and sour pie cherries, then sweetened with wildflower honey and infused with warm winter spices (served hot!).”

There are some fundraiser events going on today:

  • Caves Bier & Kitchen in Corvallis has Dine-Out for GrrrlzRock today: “We’ll be donating 10% of our daily sales to their great cause! And in collaboration with Oskar Blues Brewery and their CAN’d Aid Foundation, we’ll be donating an additional $1 for each Oskar Blues beer sold that day! GRRRLZ ROCK out of Eugene provides resources and performance opportunities to female musicians and artists by creating supportive environments in which they can be celebrated for their creative talents and express themselves freely.”
  • Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Today is Community Pints all day, with $1 of every pint sold going to benefit CASA of Central Oregon.

McMenamins Lola’s Room at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland is hosting their Blasphemous Collaboration with Helms Alee tonight from 8 to 11pm: “The Blasphemous Collaboration Series was born by tying our beer culture into the 2nd Annual Sabertooth Micro Fest in 2016, embracing the opportunity to bring together the raw energy of rock music with the creation of unique micro brews, creating the perfect partnership. We brewed Stillicide Pilsner in collaboration with Seattle’s Helms Alee, its November release marking the one-year anniversary our quarterly Blasphemous Series. As a perfect counterpoint to their heavy, murky and complex doom metal, Stillicide drinks clear, crisp, and deceptively simple. Czech and German Pilsner Malts provide a light, bready body for grassy, minty Tettnanger and spicy Perle Hops.”
