Oregon Beer News, 11/13/2013

Oregon BeerHappy Hump Day to everyone, I hope your Wednesday is going along smoothly and there is beer for you at some point in the day. Here’s the news in Oregon beer for the 13th of November. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Crux Fermentation Project (Bend) tonight is hosting a special beer dinner with Bend’s Blue Pine Bar, offering up five courses paired with a variety of Crux brews. Blue Pine’s owner and chef Matt Neltner was formerly executive chef at Deschutes Brewery and has a ton of experience and creativity when it comes to food and beer so this will be a great dinner. Cost is $60 and you can still purchase tickets online, don’t miss out.

Roscoe’s (Portland) is holding a Sierra Nevada Night tonight from 5 to 8pm and offering up some special pours: “Come and join us as we tap some great beers and hang out with Kathleen ‘Kat’ Finn from Sierra Nevada, We will be tapping 2012 Narwhal, 2013 Narwhal, Celebration, and Devastation!”

Double Mountain Brewery (Hood River): Their seasonal winter/Christmas ale, Fa La La La La, is pouring tomorrow at “Double Mountain Night” at Portland’s Nepo 24 restaurant, taking place from 6 to 8pm. I’m not 100% sure but this may be the first taste of this year’s Fa La La La La to hit the market (except for at the brewery I’ll bet) so if you’re a fan make sure to swing by.

This Sunday the 17th there is an “Oregon Craft Beer Fest” taking place at the Portland Meadows horse racing track—possibly one of the more unusual venues I’ve seen. “In conjunction with Oregon Championship Day we will also host our Oregon Craft Beer Fest on Sunday November 17, 2013. The Oregon Craft Beer Fest will feature state-wide samples and delicious winter selections and will take place primarily inside the grandstand on the mainline. Additional beers will also be available in the outdoor Beer-B-Q tent. 3 oz. samples will be available for $1.00 each and full 12 oz. pours will be available with four tickets ($4.00). As a special offer, the Portland Meadows Jockey Boot Glass will be available free of charge with 10 tickets purchased (limit of one boot glass per person).” Parking and admission are free.

Lompoc Brewing (Portland) and Fort George Brewery (Astoria) collaborated on the latest beer in Lompoc’s Rock and Roll IPA series, known as Satisfaction IPA, and tomorrow night they are holding a release party for the beer at Portland’s NW Growlers. “Release Party for Satisfaction IPA, the 7th in our classic Rock series of IPAs, a collaboration with Jack Harris of Fort George Brewing. Held at NW Growlers, 6141 SW Macadam from 6-9pm. We’ll also be pouring Port Barrel Aged Big Bang Red.”

Pfriem Family Brewers (Hood River) has a new release hitting their taps tonight: “pFriem Nelson Single Hop Pale! 6.3% 45 IBU’s Tropical flavors, hints of white wine & goose berries…don’t miss tonight’s Beer Release at 5:30! Free food pairing w/ ordering of this new beer…see you there!”
