Oregon BeerHere’s the news for Tuesday, the 12th of November. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Belmont Station (Portland) today is hosting a cider tasting with Corvallis’ 2 Towns Ciderhouse from 5 to 8pm: “Cider Wrangler Kevin Hood will be in the bottle shop sampling four 2 Towns Ciders: the winter seasonal, Nice N Naughty, Pearadise, Bad Apple and Bright. Come by and see what this popular Corvallis cider house is doing now!”

Standing Stone Brewing (Ashland): Today is their “Pints for a Purpose” day, in which they “donate a portion of beer profits to a local nonprofit which shares our vision of environmental sustainability, local food, education and community”; tonight from 5 to 10pm, $2 of every pint of beer sold in the brewpub will be donated to the Ashland Food Project which benefits local food banks. One night each month for the next few months a different charity will be benefit from Pints for a Purpose, so be sure to stop by this evening and have a beer or three and help out a good cause.

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday event at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring “Live” Creamsicle. “This NW style sour strong blond ale was barrel aged six months, then aged “marshmallow style” and blended with orange stock. Soft marshmallow and hints of citrus are noticed up front. Sweet candy, vanilla and marshmallow cover the palate and lead to a slightly tart, citrusy finish with a lingering marshmallow note. 9% ABV” Yum!

Worthy Brewing (Bend) is getting set to release their first Winter Ale, named Powder Keg, this Thursday the 14th. Here’s the lowdown: “This red-hued festive IPA is loaded with hop flavor and aroma. Pine and citrus hop characters are balanced by a generous dose of crystal malts. This “winter warmer” will be an aggressive, yet balanced favorite for the holiday season. Powder Keg Winter Ale comes in at 7.1% ABV with 65 IBUs. The limited 22 ounce bottles and kegs will be distributed by Columbia Distribution in Oregon and select draft-only accounts in Seattle, Washington.”

Claim 52 Brewing (Eugene) is celebrating their first anniversary this Friday! “Friday from 5PM-9PM COME CELEBRATE WITH US!!! We will be celebrating our first year in operation with LIVE MUSIC from Manouche Noir, Swag Raffles, Bacon Nation Food Truck, Beers on the $2 Tower, and a very special beer release.”

Widmer Brothers (Portland) has been releasing a special Barrel Aged Brrrbon each year as an Imperial accompaniment to their Brrr Seasonal Ale, and this year they’ve announced three(!) versions of this beer to be released: “Since 2010, the Widmer Brothers brewing team has brewed an imperial version of Brrr Seasonal Ale reserved specifically for this release. The beer is aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels for several months, which gives this special release a pronounced bourbon character, with vanilla and oak flavors and aromas that complement the hoppy northwest style red ale. For the two new variations, which were first brewed in 2012 as experimental releases, the brewing team added fresh chopped ginger to a select few barrels to make Ginger Barrel-Aged Brrrbon, and fresh whole vanilla beans to a few select barrels to make Vanilla Barrel-Aged Brrrbon. The result is three unique versions of Barrel-Aged Brrrbon in 2013, all perfect for the winter season.”  I’m not sure I’ve had a ginger-infused bourbon barrel-aged beer before; will be sure to look for it.

Oakshire Brewing (Eugene) has a Single Batch series beer going on tap tonight celebrating the rivalry between Eugene’s and Corvallis’ college football teams: “The Civil War game is getting close. Whether you are green & yellow or orange & black we have the beer for you! In what has become an annual tradition, we collaborated with Flat Tail Brewing on Bitter Rye-valry. A blond rye IPA with a huge citrus (orange) and grassy (green) nose, released at 6 p.m. Go Ducks!”
