Oregon Beer News, 11/08/2016

Finally, we’ve reached the end of a long and arduous election process and today is the day—Election Day. If you haven’t yet, please VOTE! And if you have, please enjoy the beer news from around Oregon for this Tuesday, November 8. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Portland’s Belmont Station is hosting a California party today, featuring Phantom Carriage Brewing and Monkish Brewing on tap starting at noon and going til the kegs kick! “Phantom Carriage focuses on alternate fermentations and uses a wide variety of wild yeast and bacteria to deliver innovative, flavor-forward beers that are intended to be both exciting as well as approachable. LA’s Monkish Brewing has just recently started creating a small presence in Portland and we will be tapping three specialty kegs of theirs to enjoy starting at noon when the taproom opens.”

Thunder Island Brewing (Cascade Locks) has an Election Day beer release for your voting pleasure tonight from 5 to 7pm: “Spend Election Day with us! We’ll be featuring Two Election Day IPA’s and an Imperial Vanilla Porter. VOTE for your favorite IPA! We will be airing the election & keeping the beer flowing, starting at 5PM.”

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Today’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm appropriately commemorates this election season: “Celebrating the end of the long, grueling presidential election season, this week’s Tap It Tuesday at 6pm is Cessation Sour, a light, easy-going blend of blonds and wheats aged in oak wine barrels with citrus peel and paw paw fruit. Offering notes of mango, banana, orange and pineapple, Cessation Sour has the flavors and temperament to unite the sour drinkers of America under one beer!”

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints days at Deschutes, where $1 of every pint sold benefits a charitable organization. This month: “We love Tuesday, do you? Join us for Community Pints every Tuesday in the month of November and help support CASA of Central Oregon! We donate $1 of every pint sold to this wonderful local non-profit that helps give our children a voice. Stop by for a tasty beer!”

Ninkasi Brewing (Eugene) has their Pints for a Cause fundraiser today at their tasting room today: “Join us at the Tasting Room for Pints for a Cause! From noon to 10pm, 25% of all pint sales in the Tasting Room will go to Whole Earth Nature School. Mentoring students in the outdoors to foster confidence, resilience, and kinship with nature.”

Bend Brewing Company‘s “Dozen Days of Drafts” continues today, and for Election Day (also because it’s Tuesday, Local’s Day) all beers on tap are offered at Locals pricing (happy hour essentially). Head on in and enjoy a few!

Eugene’s Tap and Growler has their Great Tap & Growler Beer Fest continuing today as well, featuring Oregon’s GABF winning beers on tap and nightly events. Tonight from 6 to 8pm they are welcoming Breakside Brewery in with their IPA, Lunch Break ISA, Passionfruit Sour, and Carte Blanche American Wild being poured.

Ecliptic Brewing (Portland) announced today that they will be releasing their Barrel-Aged Rastaban Oud Bruin this Saturday at the pub— “We will do a limited tapping and there will be bottles available as well.” Here’s the beer description: “The star Rastaban is one of the dragon’s eyes in the constellation Draco. A Belgian-style brown ale, we brewed Rastaban Oud Bruin with raspberries and cherries and then age it in red wine barrels. Dark malty flavors meld with yeast spiciness. The tartness of the fruit is balanced with the oak, resulting in a character similar to a red wine. ABV 7.4%” Be sure to stop by!

The Wild River Brewing in Medford is celebrating its 10th anniversary today! “Tuesday all day Wild River will be serving birthday cake and Ice cream to all of its customers, friends and family. Wild River Medford opened November 8, 2006 at the peak of a historic economic bubble. The next 5 years Southern Oregon watched as the housing bubble burst, jobs were lost and businesses closed, we lived through the worst recession of most of our lives. Through it all Wild River Medford continued to grow, refine and eventually thrive. Wild River Medford today is a pillar that plants its solid foundation in community involvement and charitable giving.” Huge congrats to the Medford location for a decade, and here’s to many more!

The BeerMongers (Portland) is celebrating Election Night from 6 to 9pm: “It’s Election Night in Cascadia, so we might as well drink! We’ll have Ordnance Brewing here tasting their delicious ales (with a draft special as well!), along with our regular Tuesday night cribbage games, Blazers vs. Phoenix at 7:00, and, of course, Election Coverage! Come on down, play a game, watch a game, taste some beers, and cheers to the beginning of the end!”

More election day specials include:

Oakshire Brewing (Eugene): Their Tuesday beer release features a beer I’d love to get my hands on: “Just when you thought you polished off all of those Halloween treats, we have another round for you for tonight’s Tuesday Beer Release. We’ve decided that Barrel-Aged Big Black Jack is the cure-all for your election night celebration and/or blues! Our Imperial Chocolate Pumpkin Porter returns, this time, aged in Bourbon barrels!”
