Oregon BeerTGIF! Hope your weekend is going to be a good one, especially if you get Monday off for Veteran’s Day! Here’s the weekend news in beer from around Oregon. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Saraveza (Portland): Tomorrow (Saturday the 9th) is their unique and awesome-sounding Fest de Peche, a mini beer fest celebrating all things peach beer. “Experience some of the rarest and most delectable Peach beers and ciders and mead side-by-side in this one of a kind event. Featuring extremely rare barrel-aged sours, gold medal winners, Belgian imports and Peach Mead and Cider. Some of these will go quick! $18 gets you 10 tickets to start and additional tickets are $2 each.” The kitchen will also have a variety of sweet and savory peach foods as well, such as: “Peach Wood Smoked Pork Medallions with a Peach Glaze with Sweet Potato Mash; Chicken Breast stuffed with Peaches and Ricotta Cheese over Brown Rice; and Peach Sorbet.” This sounds like a not-to-be-missed event so make sure to head over to Saraveza tomorrow!

Over in Eugene on Saturday, Falling Sky Brewing is once again teaming up with Corvallis’ Nectar Creek Honeywine to host a “Sky Nectar” Cocktail Party all day long, starting at 11am. “Join Phil & Nick from Nectar Creek Honeywine and the Falling Sky Crew all day for a special menu of beer, mead, and honey cocktails to celebrate the harvest. Food specials with varietal honey, samples of session mead, and maybe even a beer costume.”

Today is International Stout Day, and Deschutes Brewery is celebrating with something special at both their Bend and Portland Pubs today: “Head on in to our pub in Portland or Bend for a sneak peak sample of The Abyss, a stout float featuring Obsidian Stout on Nitro, and food specials paired with and cooked with Obsidian Stout.” That’s a sneak peek of this year’s Abyss, which you won’t want to miss!

Hopworks Urban Brewery (Portland) today crossed quite a milestone: “1 Million Bottles! Our little bottling machine just cranked out its 1 millionth bottle of organic Hopworks beer. It was an IPA, of course.” That’s impressive! And if you’re looking to get your HUB fix after hearing this news, they are doing a tasting today at Zupan’s Market on NW Burnside in Portland from 4 to 7pm today.

McMenamins Old St. Francis School (Bend) is celebrating its 9th birthday tomorrow (Saturday)! “Come celebrate our birthday, marking nine years since the reopening of this landmark as the Old St. Francis School. The Freak Mountain Ramblers will play their hilltop rock at 8 p.m., with Americana favorite Sassparilla opening from 5 p.m. ‘til 7:30 p.m.” There will be a special birthday beer flight available all day featuring Parson’s Double Brown, Sleepy Hollow Nut Brown, Black Widow Porter, and Rum Spun Black Widow. If you’re in Bend, be there!
