Oregon BeerHow is the week already half over? I hope it’s going well for you this Wednesday and this week overall; here’s the news in Oregon beer for November 4. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Belmont Station (Portland) is hosting the Portland launch party for Washington’s Sound Brewery today from 5 to 7pm: “Sound Brewery, of Poulsbo, Wash., is officially making its way into the Portland market, and we couldn’t be more excited to help welcome this popular craft brewery. We will be holding a tasting of four of the package beers they will be bringing in: Bombshell Belgian Blonde, Dubbel Entendre, Tripel Entendre, and Portage Porter. And will have a four kegs pouring in the tap room as well: Latona IPA, Humulo Nimbus Double IPA. Monk’s Indiscretion Belgian Specialty Ale, and Elijah Craig Barrel-Aged Old Scoundrel Barley Wine.”

Heater Allen Brewing (McMinnville) will be in Corvallis today at Les Caves for a tasting event: “Join us this Wednesday, when the Champions of Oregon Lager Beer come to visit! Heater Allen Brewing will be here from 4:30 – 6:30 with their Pilsner, Dunkel Lager, Sticke Alt and their Coastal Lager! We’ll have some fantastic food pairings to go with each! Come try some beers, have some delicious food, and talk beer with the Heater Allen Crew!”

The Green Dragon (Portland): Tonight’s Green Dragon Brew Crew release is featuring a blending of harvest styles: Fresh Hop Butternut Saison. “This week the Green Dragon Brew Crew has the best idea we’ve ever seen on what to do with leftover veggies from the garden. Guest brewer Aaron Bartels grew a massive butternut squash plant in his backyard. Inspired, the GDBC baked and added twelve pounds of it to a Belgian saison recipe. A dash of experimental hop HBC-342 went in for a light bittering. Five pounds of freshly-picked Newport hops shine through, brightening the beers aroma and flavor with delicate citrus and herbal spice. Fresh Hop Butternut Saison celebrates two great traditions of fall. Fresh hops and bounty from the garden. Join us this Wednesday and drink your vegetables.”

Cascade Brewing (Portland) has a special release today: “We will be releasing Vlad the Imp Aler 2013 on draft on Wednesday, 11/4 at Noon at the Barrel House. We will also be offering a vertical tasting of the three vintages in existence – 2009, 2011 and 2013 – while supplies last!”

Thunder Island Brewing (Cascade Locks) has updated winter hours to be aware of: “Hey friends, it’s that time of year. The Taproom is now closed on Wednesdays. See you tomorrow at noon!”
