Belmont Station (Portland) today has a cider tasting with a brand-new cidery, Jester & Judge, today from 5 to 7pm: “Stevenson, Wash., is the home of Jester & Judge Cider, and owners Carrie and Bruce Nissen are no newbies to cider. After developing and then selling the brands Fox Barrel and Crispin, they moved to Stevenson and started working on Jester & Judge Ciders. They will be sampling all three of their ciders for us: Sharp Cherry, featuring Portland cherries; American Apple, from Northwest apples and Columbia Belle, highlighting Northwest peaches and fresh mint.”
McMenamins Fulton Pub (Portland) has a limited-edition beer tasting today starting at 5pm, with Ultra (single hop) Pale: “When a brewer really wants to pin down the attributes of a hop variety, he or she will sometimes make a beer that incorporates only that particular hop for all bittering, flavor, and aroma components of the recipe. Well folks, that is what is happening here. This NW style pale ale was brewed with Ultra hops alone and Ultra hops alone. The result is a medium bodied pale ale that has spicy and floral hop overtones.”
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at their Barrel House at 6pm is featuring “Live” Humidor: “a single-barrel release of our sour Double Porter ale aged in an American oak barrel for two years with vanilla beans and cacao nibs from Woodblock Chocolate.” More details here: “Rich aromas of pipe tobacco, cacao and cigar box evolve into flavors of vanilla bean and toasted oak with a dry, lingering finish. Come early and hear Jessica and Charley Wheelock of Woodblock talk about their nibs! 8.6% ABV, $7.5 glass, $2.5 taster.”
Hopworks Urban Brewery (Portland): Their Motherland Russian Imperial Stout is back and released now! From the press release: “Motherland is part of Hopworks’ Imperial Series, which features rotating imperial ales throughout the year and is geared for lovers of slow-sipping, big, bold, and highly complex beers.
