Oregon Beer News, 10/25/2012

Oregon BeerHere’s the Oregon beer news for Thursday the 25th of October. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

There’s more Killer Beer Week from Brewpublic happening today! Tonight at The Beermongers is an event I’d love to attend: Bend Killer Brewers Night! “Bend, Oregon is a mecca for craft beer. If you’ve ever followed the Bend Ale Trail, you understand how awesome this town truly is. For the third time, Brewpublic has teamed up with our friends at The BeerMongers to present Bend Killer Brewers Night. Look for unique and flavorful offerings from some of Central Oregon’s finest such as Deschutes, Boneyard, 10 Barrel, Bend Brewing, Silver Moon, Crux Fermentation Project, GoodLife, Cascade Lakes, and more!” You should definitely be checking this one out if you can’t make it to Bend anytime soon. Starts at 6pm.

The Commons Brewery (Portland) has a new Thursday Wild Night starting tonight which sounds great: “Starting this week we are going to open every Thursday from 5-9PM. [Tonight], to celebrate our new Thursday hours, we’re filling our taps with various sour and wild beer projects. All beers will be available in full glasses and sample sizes.” With eight sour beers on tap it’s a fantastic lineup!

Belmont Station (Portland) has a tasting and meet the brewer tonight from 5 to 7pm featuring Sisters’ Three Creeks Brewing and Brewer Zach Beckwith: “Taste the bottle lineup from this marvelous Sisters, Oregon brewpub, including Five Pine Chocolate Porter, Hoodoo Voodoo IPA, & Stonefly Rye. The new fall warmer, Dark Hollow and Raptor Rye IPA on tap in the Biercafe.” You could hit this and the Bend Killer Brewers Night at The Beermongers and taste a lot of what Central Oregon has to offer!

McMenamins Highland Pub & Brewery (Gresham) has a meet the brewer and special beer tasting event tonight starting at 5pm, featuring “Vision Shredder Session Ale”: “This beer is designed to be light and drinkable yet flavorful. Made with all organic malts makes it a good choice for the environment too. Organic Pilsner, Munich and Crystal malts provide the back bone for the three types of hops. The Nugget hops add slight, controlled bitterness. Centennial hops lends a hint of citrus flavor and the Goldings add a spicy and floral aroma. Enjoy a pint or two.”  It’s 5.42% abv, a bit high for a true session ale, but sounds tasty nonetheless. There’s just the one keg, so when it’s gone, it’s gone.

Pelican Pub & Brewery (Pacific City): Today is the official release day for the brewery’s winter seasonal, Bad Santa! This is a 6.7% abv Cascadian Dark Ale that is arriving in bottles this year (for the first time, I want to say, but I might be wrong).

Pfriem Family Brewers (Hood River) has a new release of their own announced yesterday: “pFriem Tripel 9.5% 40 IBU Spicy Hopiness, slightly fruity, and quite zesty.”
