Oregon Beer News, 10/24/2011

I’ve noticed for awhile now that Dave over at Fermentedly Challenged has been posting mostly-daily “Colorado Beer News” posts that he updates throughout the day and I like the idea behind it—tidbits, not (necessarily) longer stories though these could certainly spawn longer stories—so I thought I’d try running a similar feature here for Oregon beer news along the same lines. So if you have any Oregon beer news you’d like to see posted contact me and I’ll update this.

(And I’m mostly borrowing from his format too. Thanks Dave!)

Hop Valley Brewing (Springfield) is now canning their beer, joining other Oregon breweries including Caldera Brewing, Fort George Brewery, and Fearless Brewing that already put their beer in cans. They are canning DD Blonde and Alphadelic IPA, which will retail for $8 to $10 per six-pack (and is available now at the brewery).

Baseline (or Solera) Brewery (Parkdale) — not heard of this one yet? Apparently it’s the former Elliot Glacier Brewpub that someone seems to be re-opening at some point. The OLCC has their “weekly applications received” document online (PDF) from 10/13 that lists “Baseline Brewing Inc” filing an application for “Solera Brewery” at the Elliot Glacier location of 4945 Baseline Drive in Parkdale. I’ll be doing further digging.

Night of the Living Ales at Burnside Brewing (Portland) is the second annual Halloween Beer Fest that will be featuring a number of seasonal and Halloween-themed beers along with live music, burlesque performers, fire dancers, and more. Costumes are strongly encouraged of course, and it all takes place on Saturday October 29th from 8pm until 1am. Cost is $8 at the door, or pre-order tickets online for $9.50.

Three Creeks Brewing (Sisters) is pairing with golf resort Brasada Ranch to host a beer pairing weekend on the 28th and 29th (Friday and Saturday). Friday night features an evening of beer tasting, food and music for $15, starting at 6pm; Saturday night features a farm fresh beer pairing dinner, five courses paired with Three Creeks’ brews, for $60.

10 Barrel Brewing (Bend): Construction on their 50-barrel brewery is coming right along, and building framework is erected.

Lompoc Brewing (Portland): From Facebook: “It’s Miser Monday at New Old Lompoc & Oaks Bottom – $2.50 regular Lompoc pints all day long!”

Deschutes Brewery (Bend) chef Matt Nelter is pairing with Bend restaurant 5 Fusion to put on a Collaborative Charity Dinner tonight from 6 to 10pm to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Central Oregon. It’s a five-course meal paired with Deschutes beers and tickets are $100 per person (details at the link).
