Oregon Beer News, 10/15/2013

Oregon BeerHere’s some beer news from around Oregon for Tuesday, the 15th of October. Today is a busy day so I may or may not have time to update this post throughout the day, but feel free to still send me news if there’s something you’d like me to share.

Belmont Station (Portland) is hosting the latest release party for the 10 Barrel/Stone/Bluejacket collaboration beer, Suede Imperial Porter, today from 5 to 8pm. “Folks from both Stone and 10 Barrel will be on hand to talk about this great new collaboration between these two incredible breweries. We will have a keg of it on tap in the bier cafe. We also will have 10 Barrel Goodin’ Hoppy Fresh Hop IPA and Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard on tap as well. Come meet Stone brewer Chris Sartori and hang out with the 10 Barrel and Stone crews!”

McMenamins Crystal Ballroom (Portland) has a concert and special beer tasting tonight featuring Bourbon Barrel Aged Venomator Imperial IPA starting at 7pm: “This is a big and bold but very approachable English style Imperial IPA. This beer is very well balanced between the malt and the hops. The malt character is nutty, bready, and slightly spicy with a caramel sweetness. The use of all noble hops gives this beer floral, spicy, and fruity notes, without an overpowering bitterness. This imperial IPA then was aged for three months in a oak bourbon barrel provided by the Edgefield Distillery. The barrel adds hits of oak, bourbon, and vanilla which complements nicely against the bold imperial IPA. At almost 9% alcohol by volume this beer is meant to be enjoyed in moderation.”

And over at the McMenamins White Eagle Saloon in Portland, they’re doing a tasting of the Edgefield’s Widowmaker Barrel-Aged Imperial Porter today, starting at 5pm and lasting until it’s gone. If you missed out on this at the Edgefield last week, here’s another chance to get in on it!

Worthy Brewing (Bend) has a new beer on tap that sounds like a must-try: “Some of you may have tried it over the weekend, but we’d like to formally introduce our newest beer, Eruption Imperial Red. Big, bold, tantalizingly smooth, and a new favorite, indeed.”

Claim 52 Brewing (Eugene) has another fresh hop beer! “Just caught wind that our Whoa-Dang Fresh Hop Belgian Pale just went on at The Bier Stein [last night]. Better get down there and grab some while you can!” Keep an eye out, the last of the season’s fresh hop beers should be rolling out and finishing soon.
