Oregon Beer News, 10/10/2012

Oregon BeerPlowing through another week and here it is Wednesday already! Here’s the news in beer from around Oregon for this 10th of October. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often for updates. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted.

Lompoc Brewing (Portland) is partnering with the Tabor Tavern (on the 5300 block of East Burnside in Portland) to present the Tabor Tavern’s first brewers dinner tonight starting at 7pm. “oin Lompoc head brewer Bryan Keilty and Tabor Tavern chef Chris Greer for an autumn inspired feast featuring four courses and four beers, including our newly released Monster Mash. The price is $45 per person, not including gratuity. Reservations can be made at 503.208.3544.” The four beers paired with the courses are Zig’s Swig, Braggot, Monster Mash, and Big Bang Red. The menu looks great and if you can get a ticket this looks like a sure thing.

In my ongoing hunt for Oregon-brewed pumpkin beers, I ran across these two tidbits yesterday:

  • McMenamins Old Church (Wilsonville): “just released the Lord Gourd Pumpkin ImperiAle. With over eight pounds of pumpkin per keg and a choice selection of spices, this beer is one festive little bevy.” It’s 8.3% abv. (Via Facebook)
  • Seven Brides Brewing (Silverton): “The pumpkin for Pearl’s Pumpkin Pie Ale arrived and is sitting outside the Tap Room! Be sure to come by this week and guess the weight of this pumpkin because the boys will be brewing in it next week!” (Via Facebook)

Belmont Station (Portland) is hosting a bottle release today from 5 to 8pm featuring Corvallis’ Block 15 Brewery: “Any time Block 15’s Nick Arzner comes our way we know we’re in for an amazing time! Several incredible new bottle releases tonight: Demon’s Farm – Black Farmhouse ale; Framboise White; Strawberry Fields – Tart Farmhouse ale.” In addition to the bottles all three beers will be available on tap too.

The Green Dragon (Portland) tonight has a Green Dragon Brew Crew release, Sophie Fresh Hop IPA: “This special brew features the exotic hop mix of fresh hops from the Heasley garden. A five pound blend of Magnum, Centennial, Saaz, Cascade and Liberty fresh hops were steeped in a deep amber brown IPA made with two-row barley malt and a small amount of carafa. The low bitter enables the earthy flavor of the fresh hops to balance the malt flavor with a subtle finish of hop flavor.”  It’s 8% abv and will be tapped starting at 5pm.
