Oregon BeerBack into the week of Oregon beer news, for the first full week of October! Here’s the news for Monday the 5th; as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. If you have news to share, please let me know and I can get that updated as well.

A bit of news overlooked last week regarding Pacific City’s Pelican Brewing: they broke ground on their new Cannon Beach brewpub! “The restaurant will be about 75,000-square-feet, seating 160 inside and 40 outside, with a 600-square-foot brewery attached, [CEO Jim] Prinzing said. Windows on the brewery side will give visitors a peek at operations. The building’s final design allowed the company to upgrade from a seven- to a 10-barrel system, producing up to 800 barrels of beer per year. ‘Most of the beer made here will be consumed here,’ he said. The brewery will be primarily utilized for research and development, including collaboration with local brewers such as Buoy Beer Co., Fort George Brewery and Seaside Brewing Co. to produce ‘some Cannon Beach-only beers,’ Prinzing said.”

This Saturday in Portland is Saraveza‘s 3rd annual Peche Fest! “[F]rom 3pm to 10pm in both Saraveza & The Bad Habit Room, ‘Peche Fest’—Oregon’s only festival dedicated to drinking the world’s greatest fruit—the peach—returns for its 3rd year on Saturday, October 10, at Saraveza and the Bad Habit Room. Stuffed with tart and fuzzy peachy goodness, the Peche Fest features 25+ rare peach beers and ciders, food made with peaches, cocktail specials, and a newly added VIP session.” Cost is $10 and you can purchase tickets online here. I’ll have a longer post about Peche Fest coming up, including the taplist, but in the meantime make sure to block out the time on your calendars.

Full Sail Brewing (Hood River): Their monthly Brewmaster Dinners are starting back up for the winter, and this month’s is taking place on Thursday the 8th, starting at 5pm. The theme is Hood River Harvest, four courses of locally-sourced foods paired with Full Sail beers. Cost is $40 for the dinner (a pretty good deal). Also: “There is limited seating. For reservations to the Brewmaster Dinners, please call our Brew Pub at (541) 386-2247.” So call now if you’re interested.

Rogue Ales (Newport): Dead Guy glow in the dark bottles are back for Halloween! From the press release: “Rogue Ales and Spirits is good to glow this Halloween with Dead Guy Ale 22oz bottles and 64oz growlers, alongside 750mL serigraphed bottles of Dead Guy Whiskey – all of which GLOW-IN-THE-DARK. Dead Guy Glow bottles are illuminated through a Rogue-patented process – not the rumored combination of radioactive barley, free range coastal water, and the DNA of the Rogue Farms Fireflies.” Hmmm, glow in the dark barley….
