Oregon Beer News, 10/02/2017

Oregon Beer, Silver Moon BrewingWelcome to October! I hope everyone had a great time fresh hop festing this weekend, and remember there are more fests coming up! Here’s the news in Oregon beer for this Monday, October 2; as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. If you have news to share, please let me know and I can get that updated as well.

Bend’s Silver Moon Brewing is re-opening to the public just in time for Locals Night today at 11:30! Their Locals Night specials are $2 off per beer and they currently have some 15 beers on tap for the opening. And later this week on the 4th they are hosting the Descend on Bend Block Party, and then don’t forget on the 13th and 14th it’s their official grand re-opening party.

Worthy Brewing (Bend) is planning to open a new taproom in downtown Bend by next spring—something my friend Mark noticed this weekend and which Worthy now confirmed today on Facebook: “The secret’s out! We will be opening our second location in Downtown Bend this Spring.” The poster in the window says “Worthy Brewing Taps & Tacos” so expect the beer to continue to be brewed at the east Bend brewery with this location as a new west/downtown outlet.

Oktoberfest officially ends on Tuesday the 3rd, but that doesn’t stop the celebrations. In particular, this weekend sees the 9th annual Bloktoberfest with Block 15 in Corvallis, Heater Allen’s 3rd annual ORtoberfest in McMinnville, and Zoiglhaus’ Oktoberfest in Portland. And I’m sure there are more as well, which I will list as I find them.

This Saturday, October 7, is the 5th annual Peche Fest taking place at Saraveza in Portland! “A celebration of peach beer with some peach ciders and peach food too. Featuring a curated selection of some of the rarest, juiciest, sweet, tart and sour peach beers around from the likes of Upright Brewing, Logsdon Farmhouse Ales, Alesong, Breakside, pFriem and many more.” It takes place from 3 to 9pm to plan accordingly.

StormBreaker Brewing (Portland) has their fresh hop bottle release today: “It’s one of the best times of the year! Fresh Hop season is in full swing and we have 3 delicious offerings for you to try. Handfuls of Fresh Hops IPA (Citra), Fresh Hop House Martell NE Style Pale (Mosaic), and So Fresh & So Wheat American Amber Wheat (Cascades). Come and get some before they’re gone! We will all three on draft and Handfuls and House Martell available in bottles!” Get down there!

Deschutes Brewery (Bend) also has fresh hops today—Hop Trip is released! “Today is the day….Hop Trip Pale Ale is available! Swing on by to try this beautiful beer featuring the fresh Crystal hop, and pick up a 6-pack to take home. What could make a Monday any better?”

Rogue Ales (Newport) is featuring their 31 Days of Dead Guy all October long: “For 31 Days of October (and the first day of November), we’ll be toasting the Dead Guy himself. Find him all over Portland all month long as we pour Dead Guy for his fans, dress up as the Dead Guy, make doughnuts for the Dead Guy and more.” Keep an eye on that event page for daily specific events.

And Beergarden in Eugene is continuing their Oktoberfest celebration (which does wrap up tomorrow), tonight welcoming Plank Town Brewing for their featured tasting event from 5 to 7pm: “Plank Town Brewing Company will be here from 5-7p. We’re tapping their Oktoberfest, FURTHR Ambr and a Fresh Hop Pale Ale. They’re hosting Plank Town Bingo! Live music from 7-9p with Robert Meade!”
