Oregon Beer, 3-Way IPA 2019Happy Monday! Here’s the Oregon beer news to kick off the start of a new week for this October 22 with a roundup of news and events taking place. As usual I will periodically update this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often for updates.

Portland’s Ruse Brewing let slip over the weekend that Ruse will be one of the three collaborators in the 2019 edition of Fort George Brewery‘s 3-Way IPA. And yes, the third is revealed as well; from an Instagram post: “We are very greatful to colab with these beautiful and creative people. Astoria is amazing and we are beyond excited to work with [Cloudburst Brewing] and [Fort George Brewery] on this years 3-way.  The thought of hanging out with these people on and off for the next 7 months to create what we think is a perfect reflection of IPA at this time in the world is the reason we do this.” Now you just need to wait until the middle of next year!

Ancestry Brewing (Tualatin) released a new pumpkin beer this weekend: “Head Brewer, Brian Engdahl, introduces a new beer released this weekend at both locations: Chai It Out. Spiced Chai Tea from The Jasmine Pearl Tea Company and charred pumpkin are combined for the perfect fall taste.” Sounds a bit like this pumpkin beer idea I threw out there recently… though I’m curious how “charred” the pumpkin was.

This upcoming Saturday, October 27, Rogue Ales Eastside Pub is once again hosting Killer Pumpkin Festival, featuring pumpkin beer, pumpkin smashing, costumes, and more! “We’re going to have an absolutely killer time at this year’s Killer Pumpkin Festival. In proud partnership with BREWPUBLIC’s Killer Beer Week, our annual gourd celebration is a fundraiser for CAMP UKANDU. There’ll be so many pumpkin beers to try and this year we’re also showcasing other fall harvest beers – stay tuned for the full beer list. Pair your pumpkin brews with a delicious sampling of snacks from our special pumpkin menu. Dress in costume for your chance to win some serious prizes! Dog, Kid and Adult costume contests. Giant pumpkin beer tapping at 5pm. Check out our Local vendors alley. And so much more! This event is family-friendly and dog-friendly.”

Portland’s F.H. Steinbart is America’s oldest homebrew supply store—established in 1918, believe it or not! This Saturday the store is celebrating with its 100th Anniversary Festival: “Join us for a celebration of Steinbart’s presence in the local brewing community for the past 100 years. We will curate beers from 12 local breweries as well as cider from 2-3 cideries. A limited amount of beer made by local homebrewers showing off the latest craft ingredients will also be served on a first come, first served basis. $25 admission includes tickets for 10 tasters. Food carts and raffle. The Festival is a nonprofit event to benefit the Oregon brewing community. All profits will be donated to The Glen Hay Falconer Foundation, which funds brewing education scholarships.”

Plank Town Brewing (Springfield) has a new beer available: Propagator Pale Bock. “Though it defies easy classification, it’s undeniable that our new Propagator is a crisp, easy-drinking beer with loads of potential. In fact, as its name might suggest, it’s a gateway to far more deliciousness. Propagator, Van Rossem explains, employs Weihenstephaner dried yeast and German pilsner malt to fantastic effect, and at 6.25 percent alcohol, it’s none too heavy to quaff in some quantity.”

Portland’s Lucky Lab is running low on fresh hop beer, so don’t waste any time getting over there for some: “We’re on our last keg of The Mutt 2018 Fresh Hop Pale Ale…Try a pint for Miser Monday! Stop in at either our S.E. Hawthorne or N. Killingsworth locations ALL DAY LONG for $1 off our pints and specials on our pitchers and half pints!”

Yachats Brewing has a new beer out, a brown ale: “Introducing- Maple! (English Style Brown Porter with Maple Syrup). ABV – 6.2%. Now this is a truly flawless Fall brew… incorporating just enough maple syrup to blend the chocolate, roasted, and malty characteristics of the grain, into a deep chocolatey truffle flavor and aroma. Maple! is a rich and malty Porter, and is not overly sweet…this brew pairs well with a nice thick sweater and a crackling fire.”

Ridgewalker Brewing (Forest Grove) has a “Weird Al” beer on tap for an event tomorrow: “In celebration of “Weird Al” Yankovic’s Birthday tomorrow, we have our Is My Face Red? Red Ale on tap! On October 23rd (Weird Al’s actual Birthday) we will be having a Twinkie Wiener Sandwich eating challenge! If you complete the challenge, you will be rewarded with one of our stickers!”
