Oregon BeerHere’s the Oregon beer news for Tuesday, September 22. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

It’s fresh hop festival week! This Saturday, September 26, we have two of the several fresh hop fests taking place: first up is the Hood River Hops Fest taking over downtown Hood River from noon to 8pm. It is I believe the largest of the festivals, with some 41 breweries that will be pouring a wide variety of fresh hop beers; cost is $5 to enter, or $15 for the entry plus commemorative mug and five tasting tokens. There’s also a $50 Brewers Tent ticket that’s pretty much a VIP deal. Minors are free until 5pm. You likely won’t find more fresh hop beers all pouring in one place!

And in Central Oregon, the Sisters Fresh Hop Festival is also taking place from noon to 8pm, located in the town’s Village Green Park. They look to have 22 breweries represented with their respective fresh hop brews, and there’s always the people’s choice voting for the favorite fresh hop beer—the winner receiving the coveted Golden Bunny award. Minors are welcome. Cost of the mugs are $5 with $1 per tasting ticket for a four-ounce taste.

The Pacific Northwest Brew Cup is taking place in Astoria this weekend, from Friday the 25th through Sunday the 27th, “one of Oregon’s best kept beer secrets” according to the release. There will be 41 breweries and cideries on hand pouring liquid goodness, which you can sample for the $9 souvenir mug and $1 per token. It’s a family-friendly fest, and there will of course be food and live music as well. It’s held at the Barbey Center east of the Columbia River Maritime Museum, with easy access to the Astoria Riverwalk as well as the Riverfront Trolley. If you’re on the coast this weekend Astoria will be the place to be!

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Their Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm tonight is featuring Q-Cumbersome: “a Wheat ale aged 12 months in oak barrels with a fresh cucumber addition just days before tapping, then blended with a small portion of sour cantaloupe Blond. Fresh cucumber flavors are rounded by a hint of melon that finish with a brisk acidity.”

Deschutes Brewery (Bend) has two new beers in their Pub Reserve Series coming out this Friday the 25th: “[T]he first is Black Butte³ (we announced this one earlier on FB so check out our timeline for more info), & the second one is Sour Quad, a sour strong ale aged in Pinot & Sherry Casks!” Yum! The Pub Reserve Series beers are only available by the bottle at the pubs and the brewery tasting room.

Standing Stone Brewing (Ashland) has a new specialty beer on tap: Madrone NW Red Ale: “This NW Red Ale is garnet colored with toffee aromas. The medium body, spicy and piney hops, and big bitter finish make this beer a great fit with hearty fall-time foods. 8.1% abv, 60 IBU” Sounds like a great fall, Oktoberfest-y type beer.
