Oregon BeerHere’s the Oregon beer news for Tuesday, the 15th of September. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Bend’s Crux Fermentation Project‘s Paddle Trail Ale, their collaboration beer with Sierra Nevada Brewing and Columbia Distributing brewed to raise money for the Bend Paddle Trail Alliance’s Whitewater Park project, has been enormously successful: according to the press release they have already raised $30,000 for the Whitewater Park project. Pretty good for something that debuted only last month! It’s on the shelves now around the state in 4-packs of cans, and $2 from every pack sold are donated to the Bend Paddle Trial Alliance.

Breakside Brewery (Portland): They have a new limited-edition barrel aged beer coming out: Bon Vivant. From the press release: “This latest creation is a Dry-Hopped Belgian Golden Ale aged in barrels previously filled with Pinot Noir to yield a beer full of pungent fruity hop flavor and aroma and notes of Belgian and wild funky yeasts, cherry, oak and cola. We filled old Pinot Noir barrels from Archery Summit Winery with a hoppy Belgian golden ale and aged it for six months. The barrels contribute notes of light cherry, acidity, oak, and cola; mean- while the hops are Comet and Amarillo, varietals prized for their pungency and fruitiness. Together they harmonize beautifully with the yeast and malt character of the base beer.” It’s 8.4% abv and will retail for $13 per 22-ounce bottle; look for it on sale starting this week.

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Their Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel Room at 6pm is featuring Sloe-ji Berry: “This single-barrel release features a sour Wheat ale aged in a white wine barrel for 14 months with sloe berries, goji berries and pomegranate. Flavors of dried fruits, pomegranate seeds and a mild earthiness from the goji berries are matched with a vibrant acidity and a hint of residual sweetness.”

GoodLife Brewing (Bend): They’ve added a Randall, according to a press release sent out yesterday: “What do you do when you have a few extra pounds of wet hops that you don’t want to waste? You think of your good friends at the Pine Box in Seattle, Ian and Dean, and the fellas at Dogfish Head and build a Randall! We are going to use the Randall as a promotional and educational tool by brining it to tap takeovers, beer festivals, beer weeks, etc. The portable Randall will be filled with local grown hops, fruits, peppers, coffee beans, or herbs and filled with whatever beer we/you want to use! In addition to the portable Randall, GoodLife Brewing will be installing a permanent Randall in our Bier Hall starting the 2nd week of September.”
