Oregon BeerHere’s the news in Oregon beer for Thursday, September 12. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Another day of Corvallis Beer Week has a bunch of great events going on:

  • Beers, Bikes & Brats starting at Sky High Brewing: “Join they Sky High team as we gather for a leisurely bike ride from Sky High Brewing to the Maple Grove Shelter in Avery Park for a family-friendly, outdoor-fun Beers, Bikes & Brats event!”
  • Big tap takeover at Suds & Suds with their Super Loco Local Promo Night with all the “usual suspects” (Flat Tail, Block 15, Calapooia, 2 Towns, Oregon Trail, and more).
  • A Craft Beer & BBQ Extravaganza at Murphy’s Restaurant, “The friendly faces at Murphy’s and Russ have pulled out all the stop to bring you a BBQ & Craft Brews feast on Thursday, September 12th from 5-9PM.  Huge portions, delicious Craft Brews and great company are in store.”

And more!

Swing Tree Brewing (Ashland): I’m pleased to see this update from the Swing Tree folks: “Although our doors aren’t officially open yet, our first 3 batches are in the keg and ready to drink! We are brewing four more batches in the next two days and when they are done fermenting (in just a few weeks) we will be ready to open!” Looking forward to that opening!

McMenamins Edgefield (Troutdale) has a limited-edition beer tasting today starting at 5pm, featuring a pre-release of Thundercone Fresh Hop Ale (which I’ve been writing about already) and their Edgefield Oktoberfest Lager: “It’s that time of year to bid farewell to summer and welcome the coming autumn. What better way to do that than with a festive Oktoberfest Lager. The Edgefield Oktoberfest is a traditional style seasonal lager, brewed in honor of the changing seasons. It pours a beautiful crystal clear copper color with a creamy off-white head. Subtle aromas of sweet bread and toffee greet the senses. The first sip opens up with the crisp, clean flavor of caramelly German malts with a touch of sweetness and a dry subtle spicy citrus aftertaste. A quaffable fall lager to celebrate the annual harvest. Prost!”

10 Barrel Brewing (Bend): Brewer Tonya Cornett recently represented 10 Barrel down at Stone Brewing in Southern California, and along with Stone and Bluejacket brewed up a collaboration beer, Suede Imperial Porter, brewed with honey, calendula flowers, and jasmine. It should be coming out soon, sometime around the beginning of October I believe.

Golden Valley Brewery (McMinnville): Today is Golden Valley’s Oktoberfest release, featuring $2 pints on the new beer from 3 to 6pm (or until the first keg blows, I assume, since that’s how they’ve done it before).

Claim 52 Brewing (Eugene) has their (first) fresh hop ale in the works! “The boys put these fresh picked Nugget, Centennial, and Crystal hops to excellent use today. Be on the lookout for Claim 52’s Fresh-Hop Belgian Pale in the weeks to come. It’s going to be…um…FRESH!”
