Oregon BeerHere’s the news in Oregon beer for Tuesday, the 10th of September. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Corvallis Beer Week continues today with a big slate of events lined up for today, including:

  • Sky High Brewing is holding a brewing demonstration from 3 to 8pm and releasing their Fresh Hop Ale today;
  • McMenamins on Monroe is featuring burger and beer pairings and a shuffleboard tournament;
  • Mazama Brewing is hosting a Craft Beer & Dessert Pairing starting at 6pm—5 beers and 5 desserts for only $25.

There are even more events going on with Corvallis Brewing Supply, American Dream Pizza, and more. It’s a good night (and week) to be in Corvallis!

And in the fresh hop world, tonight Eugene’s Oakshire Brewing is releasing their Single Batch series Centennial Wet Hop Pale Ale: “6pm tonight at the Public House, come hear the brewers have to say about our new release!”

And Bend’s Deschutes Brewery now has Fresh Hop Cinder Cone Red on tap. “Come on down to the pub and help us celebrate fresh hop season with this beautiful beer. Bursting with the flavor of 100lbs of fresh Amarillos, balanced with the rich flavor of caramel malt an roasted barley, this is an exquisite brew. Come on down and try some before it’s gone!”

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Their Tap It Tuesday event at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring “Live” Obsidian Blackberry. “This NW style sour wheat ale was barrel aged for nine months, then additionally aged on Obsidian blackberries for three months. Aromas of dusty, earthy blackberries with hints of raspberries are noticed at first. Dark blackberries and tart dried cane fruit sparkle on the palate. The finish is of bright, tart blackberries and candy with hints of rose hips. 7.5%|$7.5 glass|$3 taster”

More fresh hops! Base Camp Brewing (Portland) has a BIG fresh hop beer going on tap tonight: “Catch our first (of three) fresh hop brews at 6pm tonight here at Base Camp! Our Golden Hopportunity Belgian IPA is rockin’, with a nose-punching dry-hop (wet-hop?) dose of fresh Centennials spinning citrus circles over a golden 10%ABV Demerara-caramel-infused malt body.”

And McMenamins Old St. Francis School (Bend), in addition to having brewed up the Thundercone Fresh Hop Ale, also brewed a bonus beer: “Mike White at Old Saint Francis was not satisfied with making only one fresh hop ale. He gathered another batch of fresh hops and made his special fresh hop ale, Golden Sparrow.” This one uses Fuggles and Mt. Hood hops.

The Mountain Jug (Sunriver) is hosting California’s Anderson Valley Brewing today for a special tasting from 5 to 7pm: “Featured beers: Wild Turkey Bourbon Barrel Stout, Boont Amber, Heelch O’ Hops Double IPA, and Brother David’s Triple Abbey Style Ale.” That’s a nice lineup and if you stop by don’t forget to play some video games.
