Oregon Beer, Widmer Brothers BrewingHere is the Tuesday news in the world of Oregon beer for this September 25; Tuesdays are great days for brewery fundraising events so watch for the ones local to you. As usual I’ll be updating this post throughout the day so check back often.

Widmer Brothers Brewing (Portland) hosts its Pints for Portland fundraising night this evening, benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon: “Join us for the Pints for Portland Happy Hour event benefiting RMHC! Meet us at the Widmer Brothers Pub on N. Russell Street. 100% of all beer sales from this event go directly to RMHC Oregon & SW Washington.” You can drink beer and raise money from 4 to 7pm tonight—get some GABF-award-winning Hefe while you’re there.

If you’re seeking out fresh hops today, head over to Gigantic Brewing to partake in its “first taste Tuesday” of the brewery’s second fresh hop offering: “[Today’s] #firsttastetuesday (9/25) is our SECOND fresh hop beer of the season, featuring straight-off-the-bine citra hops. It’s called Hopbot, and it is our first exclusive collaboration with New Seasons Market. The label art is by a New Seasons employee, and bottles will only be available at you guessed it- New Seasons. We will have it on draft at the taproom for as long as it lasts.”

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints at the Deschutes locations, with $1 from every pint sold going to benefit a local non-profit. In Bend, the Pub and Tasting Room are benefiting the Deschutes Public Library, while in Portland the Pub is benefiting Deschutes employee Colby Nightingale: “This month, every $1 per pint sold on Tuesdays goes to our fellow Deschutes Brewery co-owner, Colby Nightingale, who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Please keep Colby in your thoughts.” (The Bend pub will benefit Colby on Thursday as well.)

Oregon City Brewing hosts its Charity Pint Night tonight, benefiting OPB Music. “BONUS! Tuesday Night Pints for Charity featuring special release beer “Chart Hopper IPA” in collaboration with opb music. Come on down and support our favorite local radio station with a pint… or two!” From 5pm on, $1 from every pint sold is donated, so make sure to swing by for a few pints.

McMenamins has a number of Friends & Family Night fundraisers today at several locations, including:

At each location, 50% of the night’s proceeds from 5pm on are donated to the respective organization.

And McMenamins Fulton Pub (Portland) has its limited-edition beer tasting tonight from 6 to 8pm, featuring Beyond Thundercone Fresh Hop Mosaic Pale: “Fresh Mosaic Hops from the fields of Oregon’s Sodbuster Farms were rushed to the Edgefield within hours of the hops being picked. We then froze them using liquid nitrogen and shattered them to expose the resins and essential oils inside. This beer is packed with aromas of fresh stone fruit, blueberries, and mango.”

Eugene’s Beergarden continues its Oktoberfest celebration today, featuring a tapping with Hop Valley Brewing.

Porter Brewing in Redmond, the all-cask brewery holding its grand opening this weekend, posted that it is in fact open today! Looks like there are three beers on tap now, with four more coming soon.

Worthy Brewing (Bend) has a new fresh hop beer on tap today: “Worthy Estate Fresh Hop Beer. Brewed with Chinook, Nugget & Centennial hops this beer boasts notes of orange, lemon and citrus zest. 6.2% ABV & 30 IBU.”

And Widmer has its latest fresh hop beer available to seek out: “Our latest fresh hop brew is packed with fresh Strata hops for a bold, tropical kick and aroma. Rada Strata is available now at our pub and in limited release cans. YUP, that’s right, CANS! Get it now and drink it while it’s fresh!”

Brewery 26 (Portland) has a new beer coming out on Thursday: “Our newest IPA, Crispy Clean is a West Coast style IPA loaded with Citra, Eukanot, Mosaic and Amarillo hops…so yeah it’s pretty good. And non-hazy! Craziness! 7.2% and 68 IBU. Available this Thursday at our Tap Takeover at @beerstoremilwaukie! Be sure to come down for swag giveaways, five beers on tap and unlimited high fives! Thursday from 6-9pm.”

Montavilla Brew Works (Portland) has a new fresh hop beer to drink: “‘Run To The Hops’ Fresh Hop IPA now ON TAP! 60 pounds of fresh Chinook hops from Crosby Hop Farm were added to the hopback for a big, piney & citus flavor while a big dry hop addition of Citra hops lend a huge grapefruit and lime aroma. 7% ABV and a lot of IBU’s!”

How about a coffee mead? Philomath’s Nectar Creek Mead has one going into bottles: “Top, our coffee session mead, is here in bottles and kegs! By popular demand we are releasing this product into full distribution. Come by our tap room to grab a pint, some bottles, growler or even a mead float of Top Bar and look for it on shelves and taps starting next week!”
