Oregon Beer, Belmont StationHere is the Oregon beer news for the start of the final week of September, and the first week of autumn. I’ll be updating this post throughout the day with the news as I find it, so check back in from time to time, and as always feel free to contact me with any tips.

Portland’s Belmont Station continues to celebrate Oktoberfest today and all this week and next—getting into the right proper spirit of the festive season! “Get your Oompah on with us! During all of the official Oktoberfest celebration (meaning, the one in Munich), we will be featuring special liters of Oktoberfest drafts, and Monk’s Deli will be cooking up some tasty German-style sausages in the food cart. Make sure to stop in the bottle shop to grab some Okto beers to take home! It’s going to be a lager-licious good time!”

And this weekend there are yet more Oktoberfest happenings taking place around the state, including Block 15’s 10th annual Bloktoberfest, Widmer Brothers’ 14th annual Oktoberfest, the Oregon Zoo Oktoberfest, and more. I’ll have the roundup on Friday.

Eugene’s Beergarden is also in the midst of Oktoberfest season, with its 4th annual Oktoberest celebration having started on Saturday and running through October 7. In addition to commemorative glassware and fest beers, each day the ‘garden features a special event or tapping; today it’s Silver Moon Brewing tapping its Von Trapp House (Vienna Lager), Strata Fresh Hop “Hydrosphere,” and Chapter 2 Casual Ale.

It’s also a fresh hops weekend, with several events going on you’ll want to check out:

Speaking of fresh hops, Fort George Brewery in Astoria delivers today: “The Lovell Brewery smells especially fresh, like pungent Azaccas bursting on the bine. Fresh IPA is available at the pub today, on tap and in four-pack cans to-go. Arriving around the Pacific Northwest as soon as we can. Fresh Azacca hops, from the fields of Roy Farms, Inc., to the tanks at Fort George Brewery, to your pint glass, all within a fortnight.”

And check it out: Boneyard Beer has its Fresh Hop IPA releasing on Thursday at its Bend pub! “FRESH HOP IPA RELEASE is going down this Thursday at the pub. Join us at 11AM to taste this Citra hopped up liquid gold. Tasters, pints, growlers & crowlers available.”

Gigantic Brewing (Portland) has a fresh hop beer dropping on Tuesday (tomorrow): “Tomorrow’s #firsttastetuesday (9/25) is our SECOND fresh hop beer of the season, featuring straight-off-the-bine citra hops. It’s called Hopbot, and it is our first exclusive collaboration with New Seasons Market. The label art is by a New Seasons employee, and bottles will only be available at you guessed it- New Seasons. We will have it on draft at the taproom for as long as it lasts.”

The Umpqua Brew Fest takes place on Saturday, October 13 in Roseburg, and organizers are still looking for volunteers. “Less than 3 weeks out and we still need LOTS of volunteers for the Umpqua Brew Fest.
