Oregon Beer, N.W.I.P.A.Today is National Cheeseburger Day! Nothing goes with a good cheeseburger quite like a cold beer so you know what you have to do today. In the meantime, here is the Oregon beer news for this Tuesday, September 18. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often.

Portland’s N.W.I.P.A. is hosting Modern Times Beer for a tap takeover tonight starting at 6pm: “Space Ways is the juicy and heavily Nelson hopped hazy fresh from our friends at The Belmont Fermentorium. To celebrate, we’re also featuring DDH Blam! Blam!, a Garage Project collabo, with faves Blazing World, Temple of Silence and Dymaxion, a fresh all New Zealand hopped Pale Ale. Let’s enjoy this last drop of summer and drink some awesome beers together.”

Sedition Brewing (The Dalles) offers up its monthly Liquid Education – Beer School event tonight, for anyone interested in learning more about beer: “Want to learn more about the beverage we know and love, craft beer? This free event is a great way to stop in and sample a few of our offerings while learning about the beer, process, and the brewer behind the beer. All classes begin @ 5:30pm. We’ll see you there!”

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints days at the Deschutes locations, where $1 of every pint sold goes to benefit a local non-profit. In Bend this month, at both the Pub and the Tasting Room, the beneficiary is the Deschutes Public Library. In Portland, the Pub is donating to Lines for Life, which helps to prevent substance abuse and suicide.

Oregon City Brewing has its Charity Pint Night tonight starting at 5pm, supporting Camp Ukandu: “The mission of Camp UKANDU is to bring joy and hope to children living with cancer, their siblings, and their families through “outrageously fun” camp experiences. We recognize that cancer impacts the entire family and we aim to provide parents and caregivers a respite from the physical, emotional and financial toll childhood cancer poses to families.” The brewery will donate $1 from pints sold from 5pm throughout the evening.

Ecliptic Brewing (Portland) is now brewing its Phaser Hazy IPA as a year-round beer; the brewery issued a press release about the new addition: “After initially releasing it as a “Seasonal” beer last winter, Phaser fans will now be able to find the beer in limited runs throughout the year. The decision to brew this beer regularly was an easy one. Erin Grey Kemplin, Ecliptic Brewing Sales Manager, said, “In my time here at Ecliptic I’ve never been asked more for a beer’s comeback than Phaser Hazy IPA.” It will be available in both draft and 6-pack cans for the Ecliptic Brewing distribution network.” The beer features Citra, Azacca, Mosaic, and Motueka hops and is 6.5% ABV.

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring Meyer Lemon Matcha: “a blend of sour triple ales aged in oak barrels for up to 18 months with fresh Meyer lemon zest and a late infusion of matcha tea powder. Featuring Liquid Jade Matcha from our neighbors at @taooftea, this hazy, pale green blend balances the oceanic, green tea flavors of the matcha with the sweet citrus notes of Meyer lemon.”

Solera Brewery (Parkdale) has its fresh hop “rabbit season” open: “Tapping Duncan Thumper today, fresh Simcoe hop IIPA. Get it fresh!”

Gigantic Brewing (Portland) has fresh hop beer today! “It’s time!!!! Today’s #firsttastetuesday features the first Gigantic fresh hop beer of the season, Sodbusted VI, The Return of Simcoe (with Simcoe hop- duh). Come and drink it while it lasts.”

Coin Toss Brewing (Oregon City) has a new beer release today for Dr. John’s Old Ale: “Join us as we tap the first keg of our big and bold collaboration with Trusty Brewing of Vancouver! Official Description: “A classic Old or Strong Ale made just like it would have been in 1825 when its namesake, John McLoughlin, “Father of Oregon” and founder of Fort Vancouver was weaving himself into the historical fabric of the Pacific Northwest. This collaboration brew features a wealth of East Goldings hops which complement the big malty taste. Drink a glass of history!” ABV: 9% IBU: 40″
