Oregon BeerHere’s the Oregon beer news for Tuesday, the 6th of August. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Coalition Brewing (Portland) has their new ISA being released today: “Join us at the pub Tuesday August 6th for the release of Simple, or delicious new ISA! Available on draft and in bottle, this delicious ISA is the ultimate easy drinking hoppy beer!” It goes on tap at 3pm, and is 5.4% abv with 40 IBUs.

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Their Tap It Tuesday event at the Barrel House tonight at 6pm is featuring “Live” Bourbon Barrel Aged Oblique B/W Coffee Stout (non-soured) (what a mouthful!). “This NW style non-soured blond coffee stout is a one-off straight from the brewery. Featuring 1-1/4 pounds per barrel of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (ur-ga-chef) single origin coffee beans, roasted locally by Oblique Coffee Roasters, it was aged 85 days in Jim Beam barrels. Aromas of rich chocolate, earth and coffee percolate from the glass, with hints of soft Bourbon and oak. Bright coffee, dark roast, chocolate and Bourbon notes dance on the palate and lead to a soft, creamy coffee and cream finish with just a slight warming at the end. This is camping breakfast beer! 7.7% | $7 glass | $3 taster”

The Mighty Mites session beer fest is returning to Portland on Sunday, August 18, taking place in front of Bazi Bierbrasserie during the Hawthorne  Street Fair that day from 11 to 7. This fest was created by Jeff Alworth of Beervana and first took place two years ago during Portland Beer Week, and the focus is entirely on session beers (defined in this case by being sub-5% abv). “The Mighty Mites in collaboration with Bazi Bierbrasserie will be a family friendly event with ice cream from Salt & Straw, a Hot Dog cart and the Timbers No Pity Van. At the bar Bazi has created a special (non-sessionable) beer cocktail for the occasion dubbed the Aquamighty for $7, it contains Aquavit vodka, Hoegaarden, orange juice, demarara syrup, tiki bitters, served on the rocks with an orange zest. There will also be a full menu available inside Bazi. Entrance to The Mighty Mites beer garden is $10 and includes a cup and 4 tickets, each ticket is good for a half pour of any session beer outside. Additional tickets cost $2 a piece and you can get a full pour of any beer for only 2 tickets. Only $4 per beer!” This is definitely an event you should be checking out!

Oakshire Brewing (Eugene) has a new Single Batch beer out today, Bippy’s Baltic Porter: “Today at 6p in our Pub we release Bippy’s Baltic Porter! Bippy’s is a strong Porter fermented with a lager yeast. Hints of chocolate & licorice in the aroma, with a touch of roasty sweet flavors in the middle; ending with a slow drawn out finish reminiscent of mocha and brown sugar. ABV: 7.4% Bippy was the nickname for our Brewmaster’s Father-in-law who lost a battle with brain cancer last August – this is our tribute to him.”

The Green Dragon (Portland) has a special Green Dragon Brew Crew release tomorrow night, featuring a beer brewed in collaboration with the Green Dragon’s very own staff member Lexi Harris: Czech Yourself Pils. “With a base of floor-malted Bohemian Pilsner Malt, this crisp traditional Czech Pilsner features a smooth, pleasant maltiness complemented by a mild spicy Saaz hop character. With drinking this easy, we dare you to have just one.” The release kicks off at 5pm and this sounds like the perfect summertime beer!
