Oregon Beer News, 08/02/2017

Oregon BeerThe heat wave continues (and gets hotter) today, Wednesday, August 2. Stay cool and hydrated! Here’s the news in Oregon beer for the day; as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Belmont Station (Portland) is hosting an IPA Day Pre-Funk (IPA Day is tomorrow, the 3rd) with Green Flash Brewing and Alpine Brewing from 5 to 8pm today: “IPA Day is Thursday, August 3, but we can’t wait that long! Who better to pre-funk IPA Day with than Green Flash and Alpine — two West Coast IPA powerhouses? In addition to some favorites, we also will be pouring a new IPA from Green Flash!”

Ninkasi Brewing (Eugene) announced the return of their seasonal Oktoberfest today—too soon? Debatable. From the press release: “Available early this month, beer drinkers can find Ninkasi’s Oktoberfest in 12oz. 6-packs, 22oz. bottles and on-draft, through the end of September. Crafted with Sterling, Crystal, Willamette, and Mt. Hood hops, this Oktoberfest marries Northwest ingredients with a traditional German style. Celebrating the harvest, this light-bodied beer has a toasty malt bouquet and just a touch of hop bitterness.” Ninkasi does German-style lagers really well so if you’re an Okto fan (like I am) you’ll want to seek this out, regardless of how early it’s out.

Rogue Ales Eastside Pub & Pilot Brewery in Portland has their Green Dragon Brew Crew release today at 5pm, featuring Steve Urquell Czech Style Pilsner: “Premium Continental Pilsner malt provides the simple foundation for the Brew Crew’s latest interpretation of a Classic Style, Czech Style Pilsner. Spicy essence of whole flower Saaz hops greets the nose, balanced by fresh malt flavor with a hint of honey-like sweetness. Brewed to Export strength for a thirsty Portland market, this clean example of a Czech style Pilsner finishes crisp, dry and refreshing. Na Zdravi!”

Pints Brewing (Portland): They are pouring for NBTS today all day long: “PINTS is joining the fight against brain tumors. Help us support Team Brewpublic and the National Brain Tumor Society by doing what you do best – drinking beer! A portion of proceeds from beer and food sales on August 2nd will be donated to NBTS on behalf of Team Brewpublic. Join us in supporting this wonderful cause.”

Hood River’s pFriem Family Brewers will be the brewery of at Ridgewalker Brewing in Forest Grove tonight for a tap takeover from 6 to 8pm. “Pfriem will be taking over Ridgewalker on August 2nd. Come sample some of their award winning beers and be apart of our raffle to win awesome prizes.”

Silver Moon Brewing (Bend) announced the results of their July F*Cancer fundraising campaign today: “We are thrilled to announce F*CANCER 2017 raised $25,758 for American Cancer Society Great West Region’s efforts towards cancer prevention, education, & research!!! THANK YOU to everyone who raised a glass, bottle, & middle finger in the name of fighting cancer! Special thanks to our amazing F*CANCER partners! 95 PNW pubs, bottle shops, & grocers tapped those kegs & stocked their shelves with F*CANCER IPA.” That is fantastic!
