Oregon BeerTGIF and Happy Friday! I hope you have some good beery plans for the last weekend in July, and if not yet, maybe the beer news from around Oregon will help you with that. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

The Oregon Brewers Festival in Portland continues (and concludes) this weekend, and this is definitely a sure bet if you’re in Stumptown and looking for something to do. If you go, try to get there as early as when they open (noon) as possible because it’s going to get crazy this weekend! Remember, admission is free, but the festival glass costs $7 and the tokens (good for a 3-ounce sample or 4 for a full 12-ounce pour) cost $1 each. With 84 beers to choose from you should fine plenty to try!

Roscoe’s (Portland) has their 4th annual All-Oregon Craft Beer Summit going on all weekend and starting at 2pm: “We will be tapping 18 specialty, seasonal, and one-off kegs from some of our favorite Oregon breweries. Some of the Breweries (and beers) will include: Crux (Tough Love), Logsdon (Peche ‘n Brett), The Commons and De Garde (Ortucky), Boneyard, Double Mountain, Falling Sky (Special dry-hopped Firkin of IPA), Oakshire, Upright, Flattail, Caldera (Mogli), and more. We will have tasters available and some of the brewers will be in attendance.” This should be a great alternative to the OBF if it gets too crazy downtown.

Speaking of “alternative,” Belmont Station in Portland has their Fringe Fest taking place tomorrow (Saturday) from noon to 6pm: “A fun day of Tastings, Tappings, and Meet the Brewers with great Oregon Brewers whose beer is not being poured at the big Oregon Brewers Festival. Tastings: Noon – 2PM: Heater Allen – Brewmaster/founder Rick Allen will pour samples of Pils, Coastal Common, Scwarzbier, and Isarweizen; 2 – 4PM: Crux Fermentation Project – Pouring Impasse Saison, Insider IPA, and Double Cross Strong Belgian style Dark Ale. Meet Brewers from Heater Allen, Crux Fermentation Project, Barley Brown’s, Worthy and Brewer’s Union.” Beer from all of those breweries will be on tap.

De Garde Brewing (Tillamook) is at Portland’s Saraveza today for a meet the brewer event from 6 to 10pm: “Trevor & Linsey of de Garde will be in-house sharing some of their spontaneously fermented ales including a very special new Saison.  Join us for this wild and wonderful mini-tap takeover to include: Vieux Melange, Vielle Peche, Mulligan, and Ortucky Commons.” This is a good chance to try some of De Garde’s interesting concoctions, particularly if (like the last couple of items) you’re OBF-ed out.
