Oregon BeerHere’s the news in Oregon beer for Thursday, the 23rd of July. The Oregon Brewers Festival continues today! I hope everyone who has been so far has enjoyed it. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Pelican Brewing (Pacific City) has a new summer seasonal coming out, Flock Wave Unfiltered Pale Ale. From the press release: “Bursting with a bright floral and citrusy fruit aroma, Flock Wave Unfiltered Pale Ale brilliantly balances its smooth wheat characteristics with a crisp hop-forward radiance.A unique malt bill gives rise to a vibrant gold color and a dry, snappy finish. Served cold in a glass or right from the bottle, Flock Wave is the perfect complement to a cloudless day. This Unfiltered Pale Ale is the newest addition to the Pelican Seasonal line-up and is available now through the middle of October in 12 oz. 6-packs, 22 oz. bottles, and draft.” Look for it now.

Belmont Station (Portland): Tonight they have a special “Meet the Kiwi Brewers” event that ties into the OBF from 6 to 8pm: “In partnership with the Wellington Beer Festival, the 28th Annual Oregon Brewers Festival has invited five New Zealand breweries to send their beer and their brewer to the festival for a cultural exchange of ideas, knowledge and – of course – great craft beer! Belmont Station was honored to be asked to host all five brewers and pour their beers at a meet-the-brewers event — really, the only opportunity to talk with all the Kiwi brewers outside the OBF.” Check out the event page for details on brewers and beers represented.

Crux Fermentation Project (Bend): Tonight they have a release of the 2015 edition of their [Banished] Better Off Red taking place at The Tin Bucket in Portland from 5pm until close. From the press release: “Join Crux crewmembers to celebrate the release of our 2015 [BANISHED] Better Off Red. This year’s release is a pleasantly more tart vintage of our barrel-aged Flanders-Style Red Ale. The 2015 [BANISHED] Better Off Red will be available for sale on draught and in bottles (limit four per person). Crux will also take over the Tin Bucket taps with a selection of our favorite Crux beers, many of which don’t typically travel beyond our Tasting Room in Bend.”

The Green Dragon (Portland) has a dual meet the brewer event tonight starting at 4pm—with both Lagunitas Brewing and Payette Brewing in the house: Sam Thompson of Lagunitas Brewing, with “Pils, Dogtown Pale, Little Sumpin Extra, Fusion 30 (Saison with white wine grapes)”; and Mike Francis of Payette Brewing, with “Maibock, Blood Orange IPA, Tripel, 12 Gauge, Hoops & Staves (Belgian Quad aged in Cabernet barrels).”

Block 15 Brewery (Corvallis): Here’s some news I hadn’t seen reported elsewhere: Block 15 has built out a new brewery and tap room opening up in south Corvallis (at 3415 SW Deschutes Street), and is set to open up this Monday, July 27! In their July newsletter they wrote: “Our brewers have run test water though their new JVNW 20bbl brewhouse, and our first batch is near. We should be opening late July—keep an eye out for a special newsletter with opening dates and information.” Looking forward to it!
