During Oregon Brewers Festival week, two out-of-town breweries will be setting up shop as “pop-up pubs” in Portland’s Lardo Sandwiches locations: Astoria’s Buoy Beer and Hood River’s Double Mountain Brewery, Buoy at Lardo West and Double Mountain at Lardo East. The New School reports on Buoy: “Buoy Beer will be the exclusive beer served alongside Lardo’s mouthwatering menu. The week-long tap takeover will showcase an array of styles, 15 in all, which promise to offer something for everyone. In addition to a steady flow of Buoy’s year-round beers all week, patrons will also be able to sample a variety of Buoy’s beers that are only available in Astoria at the brewery itself – and in some cases are not even available there any longer, as most of these beers are brewed only once and many have already run out at the brewery.”
And Brewpublic reported on Double Moutain: “Double Mountain beer has been on tap and complementing Lardo’s ridiculously delicious menu for years and is excited for the opportunity to showcase its beers for the week-long tap takeover. Double Mountain will be taking over all 15 taps and pouring a wide range of styles guaranteed to please beer lover palates of all kinds. Throughout the week all beers will be $5, no matter what beer it is. And for the kids, and the kids at heart, Double Mountain will be sending its house made, non alcoholic Oh Man! Root Beer.” Both breweries will be available on tap at each Lardo from the 22nd through the 26th.
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring “Live” Cherry Bourbonic: “A variation on our Bourbonic Plague blend, Cherry Bourbonic consists of Spiced Double Porters aged in Bourbon barrels for up to two years with dates and cherries. Deep flavors of dried dark fruit, Bourbon and roast malts are complemented by the bright tones of Regina and sour pie cherries. This is a big one at 12.9% ABV!”
