Oregon BeerTGIF! Hope your weekend is looking up! Here’s the Oregon beer news for the weekend of July 17. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please let me know and I can get that updated as well.

Today is the latest Portland Beers Made By Walking, a “Cascade Views” walk at the Lower Saltzman Trailhead off Highway 30, and featuring The Commons, Hopworks Urban Brewery, and Upright Brewing: “What to Expect: Portions of the trail will be steep and exposed; A view of Cascade mountain peaks; A 4 mile hike with 1400 ft elevation gain. Following the hike, feel free to stop by the Skyline Tavern at 8031 NW Skyline Blvd. In celebration of the hike, Skyline Tavern Project will be featuring a beer from one of the hike’s lead breweries and donating $1.50 for every pint sold to the Forest Park Conservancy! Stay turned for the chosen brew.”

McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse (Hillsboro) is hosting the company’s 14th annual Roadhouse Brewfest this Saturday, July 18, featuring beers from both McMenamins breweries and guest breweries: “We’re going big this year: More tents and more handcrafted beverages—you’ll probably need more tokens! We’re featuring selections from McMenamins and guest breweries and cideries from around the region. Our barrel-aged selections will be indoors, ales will be in a tent and we’ll house a new tent dedicated to ciders!” It starts at 11am and runs all day; check out the beer list here. It’s going to be a good day!

Belmont Station (Portland): Their Puckerfest continues into the weekend (ending Monday) with the following special days: “Out of State” Day all day Friday, featuring some great breweries from California, Colorado, and elsewhere; Block 15 and de Garde Brewing day on Saturday, from 3 to 5pm, pouring specialties from both breweries; and Upright Brewing will be in the house on Sunday from 3 to 5pm: “Join Alex and his crew as they bust out some delicious funky offerings. We’ll be pouring Small World Saison, Saison du Blodget, Fantasia, a new, unnamed “Fantasia-esque” brew with rainier cherries, and maybe more!”

Portland’s new Montavilla Brew Works is having their grand opening today (Friday) from 4 to 11pm: “It’s been over two years in the works and we’re finally able to open the doors to the public! Please join us in the taproom and huge patio area for our Grand Opening celebration weekend! Friday hours 4pm-11pm, Saturday 12pm-8pm and Sunday 11am-6pm. Outside food is encouraged as we only will serve light snacks and our beer at the bar….CHEERS!!” Congrats!

McMenamins Bagdad Pub (Portland) has their “Reel Beer Series” today starting at 5pm, featuring the Edgefield brewery’s Double Barrel Baltic Porter on tap for the special tasting: “This dark, chocolatey, organic lager bomb is a blend of the same base beer- a smooth, malty Baltic Porter- aged in both Cornelius Pass Roadhouse Billy Whiskey barrels and Edgefield Distillery Hogshead Whiskey barrels. All 8 barrels were then blended and kegged to create a unique fusion of flavors from vanilla to oak to toffee and beyond. This lager drinks like a much lighter beer but packs a ton of flavor, enjoy!”

The Bier Stein (Eugene) tomorrow (Saturday the 18th) is hosting Central Oregon’s Sunriver Brewing for a tasting from 5 to 8pm: “Come check out some tasty brews from the recreational paradise of Sunriver, OR. Here’s the beer list: 3rd Anniversary Imperial IPA, SUP Summer Ale with lemon peel & lemongrass, Game of Thorns Blackberry Wit, Hop Shop – Mosaic, Hop Shop – Session IPA”

The Portland beer bar Prost! is hosting what I believe is the very first Kölsch Fest tomorrow, Saturday the 18th, all day starting at noon: “We will be featuring 4 Kölsch biers from Reissdorf, Sünner, Zunft, and Früh, breweries that will be all served in the traditional .2L(6.76oz) kölsch stange, and delivered by kölsch kranz(special serving trays). In addition, the kitchen will be serving Döner Kebabs and Krapfen (jelly donuts) on special all day.” I like that they are all actual German Kölsches (though it would be fun to pair them up with American versions as well).

Rat Hole Brewing (Bend): This Saturday the 18th they are celebrating the 2nd anniversary of their Brewpub—which opened in July of 2013, though their beers debuted commercially a few months before. Starting at noon and running all day, they’ll have a parking lot party featuring live music, $4 beers on their top 4 beers, swag drawings, grilled food and more. Congrats!

Breakside Brewery (Portland): This Sunday, the 19th, they are holding a Summer Luau at their Milwaukie location from noon to 8pm: “Join Breakside at our Milwaukie Taproom and Brewery for a special all-ages outdoor Luau on Sunday July 19th from Noon to 8pm.Featuring our new Passionfruit Sour Ale, Framboise, Mangolust and other special beers on tap. Chef Mike Delaney will be grilling up a Hawaiian themed BBQ menu featuring: Kahlua Pork smoked in banana leaves, Kahlua pork sliders, mac salad, fried rice, Spam musubi, fruit salad. Live luau dancers, guitar player and water misters and outdoor games. Kinds tent with fun activities. $15 includes souvenir glass & 4 tickets. Additional tix $1”
