Today is the next-to-last day of Belmont Station‘s Puckerfest in Portland (I thought it ended today but was wrong!) and tonight they are featuring Hood River’s Double Mountain Brewery and Parkdale’s Solera Brewery from 5 to 8pm—and it’s the first tapping of Double Mountains annual Devil’s Kriek and Rainier Kriek, some of the Oregon beer geekery’s favorite local sour beers made with cherries from brewer Matt Swihart’s own orchard. You’ll get to taste the cherries themselves side by side with the beer! Solera is also bringing some fruit sours and I think tonight is the night to be at Puckerfest.
Sky High Brewing (Corvallis): Speaking of sour beers, today is the release of Terra Fluvia Gose from Sky High, with the festivities taking place from 4 to 7pm. “Terra Fluvia Gose is a traditional German salt beer. Flavors of wheat and corriander and salt, low gravity, summer beer. Hoppy Hour 4:00-6:00pm with lots of swag to give away. Talk beer with the brewer. Join us for a sippy sip. DJ Sheltered Sound playing from 4-7pm.” Cannot go wrong with a good Gose!
Rock Bottom Brewery (Portland) tonight is tapping their Summer Honey Ale tonight, with a special tapping party from 5:30 to 8pm: “Starting at 5:30 pm we will tap our first keg of Summer Honey Ale and sell $3 pints until the keg runs dry. All proceeds from the keg sales & raffle will go to My Voice Music, a local non-profit organization which connects youth experiencing challenges cope, heal, and thrive through music and performance.”
McMenamins Cedar Hills (Beaverton) has a special beer release tonight starting at 4pm: Carolina Kölsch. “The Kölsch is a style that originated in the city of Cologne in Germany. Kölsch not only refers to the style of beer brewed in Cologne but also anything that has to do with the quaint German City. With that in mind, I have brewed the Carolina Kölsch with traditional German Ale yeast. Kölsch is bright like a pilsner but technically still Ale as opposed to Lager. It is crisp, light and refreshing. Prost!” When it’s gone, it’s gone.
Cascade Brewing (Portland): They posted on Facebook about a new bottle release going on sale tomorrow: “Tomorrow at 4:30pm PDT is the worldwide bottle & draft release of Tangerine Dream NW at both the Barrel House & Raccoon Lodge. Sorry, there are NO online sales for this beer. Price is $30 each, with a limit of 4 bottles per person. This easy drinking NW style sour spiced old ale was aged in rum barrels for 20 months with tangerine zest, then blended with our aged Apricot Ale.”
