Oregon BeerHere’s the beer news from around Oregon for Tuesday, the 16th of July. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Flat Tail Brewing (Corvallis) is celebrating their 3rd anniversary this Saturday, July 20th, all day long at their pub. From noon to 6pm there will tours with the brewer every hour, as well as a new beer release every hour—the beers scheduled are (starting at noon) Belgian Golden Strong, 3rd Anniversary Ale, Bourbon Old 25, 2012 White Light with Brett, Humulus Lambicus, Humulus Nocta, and Lemon Diesel. There will be free toasts at 1 and 6pm and special bottle releases as well. Flat Tail has made such a splash on the Oregon beer scene that it’s kind of hard to believe they’ve only been around for three years! Make sure to head down to Corvallis to help them celebrate on Saturday!

Puckerfest continues today at Portland’s Belmont Station, featuring a terrific rotating tap list of sour, wild, funky beers and special meet the brewer events and tastings. Tonight’s penultimate event from 5 to 8pm features Seattle’s Schooner Exact Brewing and Hood River’s Logsdon Farmhouse Ales, which should make for a great evening of sours.

McMenamins Bagdad Theater (Portland) is  having a special beer release from their Edgefield brewery along with a “Meet your Makers” with the brewers tonight starting at 5pm, featuring Troll’s Toll Terminator Stout. “Our company flagship Terminator stout begins the journey with a bevy of wild yeast and friends in our Hogshead Whiskey barrels to assist this beers arrival to its final destination. You’ll notice a touch of sourness up front, followed by a dose of chocolate and a touch of caramel. The whiskey’s there, like a pot of gold on the other side of the rainbow bridge, but its troll’s gold. Better pay the toll.” A wild whiskey stout sounds pretty interesting.

Speaking of 3-year anniversaries, Portland’s Columbia River Brewing is celebrating their third year this Friday, the 19th, from 5 to 10pm with a nice selection of beers on tap, including some specialties. There will be live music and food specials of “BBQ 1/2 Chicken, baked beans, and potato salad $10.00.” One of the special beers they’ll have on hand is a 2-year-old Barleywine—don’t miss out.

The Bier Stein (Eugene) has a cool event coming up this Thursday: Wood, Sweat, and Beers, a “summer wood aged beer fest.” Here’s the blurb: “Wood Aged Beer Fest with 12+ taps of special, rare, tasty woody delights! Pouring all day with brewers showing up around 6-8pm.” That’s going to be a great night in Eugene on Thursday, definitely a good place to be!
