Oregon Beer News, 07/15/2015

Oregon BeerHalfway through the month and I hope July has been treating you well so far. Here’s the news in Oregon beer from around the web for Wednesday the 15th. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Belmont Station (Portland): Their Puckerfest continues today, with an amazing tap takeover event: a staggering 16(!) taps from Cascade Brewing! “This is guaranteed to be the largest collection of Cascade sours ever assembled outside the Barrel House, and includes some tasty treats rarely seen outside the pub and includes a very special sour blended by Belmont Station staff and served only at Belmont Station for Puckerfest: Mangos into a Bar.” Especially don’t miss that “official” Puckerfest beer. Taking place today from 3 to 7pm.

Hopworks Urban Brewery (Portland) tonight is teaming up with C-Bar and of course their current collaborators Payette Brewing for the 24 Karat Collaboration Party—their carrot pale ale. “Join HUB and Payette on July 15 from 6-9pm, at C Bar in Portland, for the 24 Karat Collaboration Beer Party. The night will feature beer from both breweries, including 24 Karat Pale Ale (brewed with fifty pounds of organic carrots!), swag giveaways, and each pint of HUB/Payette beer will give you 50 cents toward pinball. For this beer, we teamed up with our pals at Payette Brewing again for a new brew that will have you seeing liquid gold. While our last beer with Payette was a Potato beer, we’re not talking about Yukon Gold, we’re talking about 24 Karat, a Pale Ale brewed with 50 lbs of organic carrots. The beer is an aggressive and earthy Pale Ale made with organic carrots and organic NW Cascade and Ahtanum hops. The beer is 6% ABV, and 65 IBUs with an additional 24 CBUs (Carrot Bittering Units).”

McMenamins Cedar Hills (Beaverton) has a limited-edition beer tasting today starting at 6pm, featuring Castilleja Hills Wheat: “With the summer season upon us, I decided to create a light, flavorful American Wheat ale. Infused with just the right amount of fresh Indian Sarsaparilla and Sweet Spanish Orange Peel, the “Castilleja Hills Wheat” is wonderfully easy drinking ale. Inspired by Oregon’s own Painted Hills where you can find Castilleja’s blooming across the land. I suggest enjoying with a slice of orange, but a lemon will be tasty as well, maybe try one of each.”

The Green Dragon (Portland): Today’s Green Dragon Brew Crew release features a lager: Smoked Marzen. “To craft Smoked Marzen, the Brew Crew used all German malt from the famous Weyermann malting company of Bamberg. Judicious use of German Haullertauer hops adds just enough bitterness to counter the sweetness of the malt and enhance the long lasting smoked malt finish.” Event starts at 5pm.
