Oregon Beer News, 07/15/2013

Oregon BeerA bit of a late start this Monday, but here’s the news in Oregon beer for July 15. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Belmont Station (Portland): Their Puckerfest is continuing today, featuring a rotating tap of sour and wild ales and special events through Wednesday. Today’s big event is a meet the brewer with Corvallis’ Flat Tail Brewing from 5 to 8pm, and they’ll be pouring six sour/funky beers: Lemon Diesel, Humulus Lambicus, La Peu de Ride, Apricus, Humulus Nocta, and a not-yet-named wheat sour. This should be a fun evening if you can make it!

Full Sail Brewing (Hood River) has a new Brewer’s Share Experimental Beer released for July (it’s Oregon Craft Beer Month, remember): Faria’s Clara Helles Lager, brewed by Brewer Francisco Farias Martinez. “This beer was Francisco’s first “shiftie” (what the crew calls after work beers). He had a pint on the day he started as a packager at Full Sail, and he wanted to honor that first beer. According to Francisco, “the name says it all, as ‘Clara’ means ‘clear’ in Spanish. I thought this style would be the perfect shift beer to share with the crew on the warm summer afternoons that July will bring.”” The beer is 6% abv and 25 IBUs.

The Commons Brewery (Portland) is joining a number of other breweries including Block 15, Occidental, De Garde, Heater Allen, and more at 1856 bottleshop for a special tap takeover curated by The Commons, this Thursday starting at 5pm. The Commons posted today, “We just picked up a keg of Framboise White from Block 15 and have another surprise coming from our friends at Solera.” So this is sounding like a cool event to try some rare stuff this week.

Oakshire Brewing (Eugene): Tomorrow is the (single batch) release of their “26” Imperial Oregon Ale, the beer they brewed for the Oregon Brewers Festival this year. “Rumor has it Brewmaster Matt Van Wyk will also have a surprise addition to our draft line-up. Stay tuned for details. See you at 6p tomorrow in our Public House.” If it’s like last year’s “25”, this year’s will have 26 different ingredients in it.
