Oregon Beer News, 07/13/2015

Oregon BeerMonday the 13th! It doesn’t have quite the superstitious gravitas as Friday the 13th but I’m sure there’s someone out there that’s nervous about it. Great day to relax and have a beer over this weeks’ beer news though! As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Portland’s Belmont Station has their annual Puckerfest sour beer celebration kicking off tomorrow, July 14! It’s their ninth year of Puckerfest and they have a week’s worth of great sour and funky beer events lined up, including releases, tap takeovers and more. Tomorrow they’ll be kicking off Puckerfest week hosting Breakside Brewery‘s release of this year’s Passion Fruit Sour summer seasonal. And Wednesday has a 16 tap takeover with Cascade Brewing! You are not going to want to miss out!

This Saturday, July 18, is McMenamins‘ 14th Annual Roadhouse Brewfest taking place out at the Cornelius Pass Roadhouse all day long (starting at 11am). “We’re going big this year: More tents and more handcrafted beverages—you’ll probably need more tokens! We’re featuring selections from McMenamins and guest breweries and cideries from around the region. Our barrel-aged selections will be indoors, ales will be in a tent and we’ll house a new tent dedicated to ciders!” They have a terrific beer list posted with some great guest breweries represented, so it’s going to be a good day—make sure to head over there Saturday.

Ochoco Brewing (Prineville) has a special firkin keg being tapped today: “This evening at 5:30pm we’ll be tapping a Firkin Keg! This Wildcard beer is a black ale dry hopped with Cenntennials from Flying Pig hop farms. See you at 5:30!” Flying Pigs hops are grown locally in Central Oregon.
