McMenamins Fulton Pub (Portland) has a limited-edition beer tasting today starting at 5pm, featuring Vanilla Porter: “This porter has a nicely rich chocolate flavor that blends nicely with the vanilla bean hammered inside the keg and allowed to age with the beer. The hops play a back-up role in this beer, allowing it to have a pleasant sweet quality. Smooth, rich, and delicious!” When it’s gone, it’s gone.
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring “Live” Run Like A Cantaloupe: “Like melons? …Run Like A Cantaloupe [is] a Strong Blond ale aged for 14 months in a chardonnay barrel with cantaloupe and Santa Claus melons. Will there be a sour shower?” I have to say, a melon-based fruit sour would be rather interesting.
Portland Brewing (Portland): For this year’s Oregon Brewers Festival they are releasing a limited-edition Super S.M.A.S.H. Double Pale Ale. From the press release: “Similar to its pale ale cousin, Super S.M.A.S.H. features Goldpils Viena malts, known for their toasty flavor, and an extra heavy dose of bright, citrusy Simcoe hops. The result is a refreshing pale ale with a 7% ABV, slightly higher than the original 5.6%. Super S.M.A.S.H. makes its debut exclusively at the Oregon Brewers Festival from July 22-26 at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown Portland. When the festival ends, you’ll be able to find this small-batch beer on tap at select Portland-area pubs, growler stations, restaurants and Portland Brewing’s Taproom for a limited-time.”
Oakshire Brewing (Eugene): Tuesday night beer release at their Public House! “We’re feeling a little patriotic after the last few weeks, so why not put the Blu in Red, White & Blue? Madame Blu that is. She’s a quenching ale with blueberries aged in second-use whiskey barrels. M. Blu got her start as a Berliner Weiss. The addition of blueberries and a blend with wild golden ale fermented with Brett leaves Madame Blu dry and tart with a fruity balance.”
Monkless Belgian Ales (Bend) has a new beer out in town: “Hey All – just got word from Humm Kombucha that they put Shepplekofeggan on tap! It’s our latest brew – a Belgian Wit that’s light and refreshing (5.4% ABV). Perfect for the heat of summer. Hope you enjoy!” It’s their lightest (by abv) beer yet, worth a look!
